Welcome, Fabled!

There is a lot of useful info in the older threads here in the forums, with discussions of many aspects of the various Civ games. If you are interested in multiplayer there are a lot of older games that make very entertaining (and educational) reading, plus newer games that are still in progress. Check the game reporting forum for the active pitboss games, including a greens game for newer/learning players. I believe the active games are mostly Civ4, but there may be some folks interested in Civ3 around still. Plenty of Civ5 and Civ6 players too. Take a look around and have fun!

Extensive googling, joining discords, eventually asked someone on the Realmsbeyond discord - kilcavalry I think it was.

Would anyone else be interested in playing the Dune Wars Revival mod, for a Pitboss? It has great graphics and gameplay. And I like Dune of course.
It would need balance modding for multiplayer, could easily make that an ongoing process. I don't know anything about civ4 modding but I've modded other games including some light hex editing.

Where can I download the basic (or current, if there's a difference) Realms Beyond Civ4 mod? Sorry if this is obvious somewhere, but I haven't found it after several Google searches and searches of this site. Thank you!

The most common played mod is the Close to Home mod found here along with changes made. As name indicates it is fairly basic and close to base game.

Thank you! I will check it out. I guess I was mistaken to think that there was a particular "Realms Beyond" mod.

Thank you! I've read about both mods now and find them both interesting and very detailed. They both fix major elements that I would mod myself such as AP, espionage, global warming, and many balance issues, and they also address tons of other issues that I agree with and have heard about over the years in game reports, videos, and players' web pages. I am more inclined to try Close to Home because I like the idea of not straying too far from BtS.

Do keep in mind that both mods were intended for multiplayer games. They of course both work in singleplayer, but that was an afterthought.
