Message from SleepingMoogle:

Quote:Greetings Lord Parkin,

I have had no messages from WarriorKnight to suggest that he has altered his course, so continuing southwest should cause you to meet up soon enough (if you haven't already). I was also contacted by Locke who is interested in meeting up with you. He has a scout likely somewhere to the southeast of where your Warrior is right now (the exact tile is not known to me unfortunately). I have already mentioned that heading northwest would probably allow him to find you, but that probably also depends on where your Warrior is headed over the next couple of turns.

Regarding the Zulu's, I'm keeping the trade routes in mind, but thank you for pointing it out. :-) As you said, Plako is a more worrying Civ at least for now.

Pleasant dreams,

I'm not so sure if Plako will continue to be the main concern if civs like SleepingMoogle keep borders open with Rego. He must be getting, what, at least 8 gpt from those four cities of SleepingMoogle's already (considering he must have Sailing to have built the Great Lighthouse, and presumably has explored to his nearest neighbour). At this rate he'll be #1 GNP in no time. Then we end up with two super-civs bordering us. Not at all an attractive prospect.

Well, for anyone wondering, we ended up founding our sixth city on the same turn as Plako. Technically we founded ours 8 minutes earlier though, so I'm still calling that a victory. tongue

So, our sixth city (Pantherinae) was founded at the Fur site. The forest was chopped out from underneath it before founding. Our Worker there is working on improving the Deer, then will move onto the Fur and then the Corn once the borders expand.

Workers at Tigris have built a road on the Copper tile in preparation for mining after the border expansion next turn.

Granary started at the capital. We need to grow and work cottages if we want to compete for the Hanging Gardens (and also generally we need to get the capital pumped up in population a bit more anyway).

Down south, Magadan is 1 turn from finishing its Barracks. Plan is then 1 Warrior, followed by an Axeman. Evermore is slowly working on that Granary, also growing to work some cottages. Felidae's borders will expand next turn so we can start hooking up the Gems. We'll also get some more cottages up and running there very shortly. Basically the plan is to get the tech rate up as much as possible right now.

Met Locke (last one!) and had a brief in-game chat. He seems quite blunt and to the point, but very observant. He doesn't write as though English is his first language, so I'll give him some leeway there.

He does genuinely seem to be quite friendly, all in all. Asked us for confirmation about where Luddite is, we asked for confirmation where he is. We both agreed that it's pointless fighting anytime in the forseeable future, and that friendly cooperation is in our mutual best interests for a very long time. It looks like we'll be getting on well. smile

Had another in-game chat with Mackoti, mostly about trade routes. He too seems quite concerned with SleepingMoogle's decision to Open Borders right away with Rego... good to know it's not just me.

According to him, he set up a sandbox with the same settings as this game, and found the Great Lighthouse builder could easily expand to 10 cities early on and keep them profitable. Resources affect things, of course, but interesting to know anyway - that's about what I would have expected.

Apparently he plans never to open borders with Rego, and urges us to do the same. (We were considering that anyway, though didn't lock anything in.) He's keen to open borders with us as soon as possible though, once we get trade routes.

Following up our initial chat with a friendly message to Locke. May as well reinforce the good relations with some harmless information.

Quote:Hi Locke,

Just to elaborate on our earlier conversation - if you're looking to find Luddite, here are your options. You can either head north-east with your Scout through SleepingMoogle's chokepoint city (requiring open borders), then after that go east through Mackoti's chokepoint city (again requiring open borders). After that, you continue east through Mackoti's land and eventually meet Luddite. This is probably the quicker option, unless you have another unit around Nakor/Plako.

Alternatively, if you have a unit around Nakor/Plako, you may be able to bump into one of Luddite's Warriors which is in the area. Failing that, you can go north up the land bridge between Nakor and Plako, and you will eventually meet my chokepoint city (I'll give you open borders if you need them to meet him). You then continue north to the top of the map, turn west, and encounter Luddite from the other side.

As far as I know, there is no north-south land bridge directly below Luddite, unlike for most of the other civs. Thus, your options for meeting him are limited to either travelling through Mackoti, travelling through me, or chancing into one of his units in the south. I can request a more specific location of Luddite's units down south if you'd prefer that option - just let me know.

Kind regards,
Lord Parkin

Message to SleepingMoogle:

Quote:Hi SleepingMoogle,

As it turns out, I met WarriorKnight and Locke right after one another on consecutive turns, which is great. There certainly seems to be quite a large congregation of units from all different civs hanging out near your borders at the moment! Apparently you're the "place to be" right now. wink

Thanks for all your help with making contacts. Happy to provide further assistance on finding the quickest route to Luddite's units if you need any more help (once you get Open Borders through Mackoti).

Good that you're keeping the trade routes in mind with Rego. Plako is indeed more of a concern right now, but if Rego maintains opens borders for a prolonged period - especially with multiple civs - then he'll be able to expand like mad and make money in the process. Worth keeping a watch out for, anyway. Wouldn't want you to get swamped by their Great Lighthouse-fueled expansion push. smile

Sent notes to Luddite, Nakor and Plako to let them know we've met Locke.

Also mentioned WarriorKnight to Nakor.

Quote:Hi Nakor,

Turns out we bumped into one of Locke's scouts up north, so now we've completed the set. Good to be able to spam... er... post in the UN thread at last. tongue

We met WarriorKnight last turn, who seems to be quite anti-Plako for fairly obvious reasons. I imagine he probably wouldn't take much convincing to get some revenge on his larger neighbour at some point. wink

Message to WarriorKnight.

Quote:Hi WarriorKnight,

Met Locke this turn, so thanks for your help there! That completes the set... got there only a few hours after you. smile

Good to hear that you're planning on doing something about your runaway neighbour at some point. Don't worry, I won't pass anything on. Might even be able to assist you there later on, we'll see. wink

Best regards,
Lord Parkin
Still not sure we'll realistically be able to help against Plako, nor sure we'll end up wanting to. However, it seems like a possibility at the moment, so let's see what happens.

By the way, is it worth me posting every little bit of diplo in the thread like I'm currently doing? I do wonder if it gets a bit boring or tedious for the lurkers to read through. I can trim it down and just post the highlights, if people would prefer. Saves me a bit of time too (although it reduces my post count growth rate lol).
