My intuition was that Mjmd is aware of us having sight on the southern route and was going to go straight at Clackamas like you suggested.
The catapults I had there knowing that my mounted units would be able to move around quicker. But I kept debating whether I should bring them back with the other catapult stack, wondering if i had enough siege to hit a stack hard enough.

Turn 191 pre-turn report
Down south Mjmd has three knights, four rifles and a couple of cats. I'll need to do some simming to see what sort of force we'll need to kill them. Bellisarius won't fall this turn, but should on t192.
Up north there are only four rifles, presumably with a big knight contingent right behind, hopefully only 15, possibly a lot more. I'm wondering about spending 110 gold to upgrade the swords in Clackamas to Maces, but that'll delay the techs we want...

Oh wow, that's less than I had been dreading. But stress/anxiety can do that to a person! I feel a lot more optimstic seeing these numbers.
Any benefit to pulling units out of Dance Floor if it looks like his stack is going towards Clackamas? Or is it still better to keep the knights honest by sticking strong defenders behind those castle walls?

Still time for him to bring more! But preliminary sims make me think we can wipe a stack of fewer than 30 units.

Yeah, that sounds good, but I'm expecting some units on Dance Floor's doorstep next turn. Rifles will ignore the castle and get odds on the longbows so falling back to be useful elsewhere sounds good. I kept them in the city this turn to stop a knight blitz.
Elsewhere, I went on a whipping spree (feels odd to do that at t190 being a default-RtR player) and declared war, then offered 300 gold for peace. Sure, he'll just come back in ten turns, but the time will benefit us. We're camping a couple of his seafood, but haven't pillaged as yet as a show of good will (nothing to do with caravels not being able to pillage ).
Stay tuned for fireworks!

OH, do you mind if I log in just to look around from time to time?

Turn 192 preview
Down south it's initially as expected. But the sentry knight reveals 12 C2 knights and a couple of longbows further back. I'm inclined to leave our longbow in place and move the welly and 2 pikes back to Klamath, although I can see an argument for moving the LB too (the rifles get >60% against it, but scratching a rifle isn't a bad outcome). The good news is that the culture from Klamath and Crook means he's going to advance on those cities one tile at a time. The bad news is that I doubt we can keep them so I'll whip them hard.
Up north he's not actually put a lot into the attack. Dance Floor is a goner, we should probably just empty it and pull back. But the main assault on Clackamas is strangely crappy, he can't move many units up to the city next turn, so they should be an easy target for our cats.
There are a three knights that can catch up, and more rifles are on their way, but I think we should position this turn to hit his stuff when he moves it SE of Clackamas next turn.
Once we've secured the north we could move whatever knights we have left to help out in the south once they've healed up. Or we could push a big stack of 2-movers into his territory to try and force a peace treaty. Unfortunately gunpowder is a 2-turn tech, so no pinch for the attack next turn (not that many of our units will have a spare promotion anyway).
Question: Has Belisarius or Dancefloor ever been size 2?

No, neither cities have grown. I suspect he would raze/replace anyway as that's what he had done before.
I should have been whipping on Klamath & Crook sooner, as I knew I would need to defend more at Clackamas with the Taj being built there. I just got a bit whip-fatigued and let myself convince myself that I could just keep growing the cities instead.
Silver lining: that's all the knights I would expect as its only a few more than what I saw 10t ago.
