A pissed off but constrained Cornflakes is probably better than a neutral but unconstrained Cornflakes.
Azza should get every tech for free so that he can spend his money on upgrades.

cornflakes offered music, calendar and drama for CS.
TT offered calendar and theology for CS.
How long do GA's last on normal? I think 9 turns? I don't really want to trade him CS if he can switch to it in his GA...

I think that the greater risk in giving him CS is that he cranks out macemen and owns all of Azza's land.
That's going to happen sooner or later,...but the later the better.

But why are you asking about the GA length? Are you thinking about trading with Cornflakes?
You've been caught red-handed organizing that trade block,...so you've taken the diplo hit already. Your credibility will be shot and any potential success that you might have had in the trade block will be erroded.
Others that closed borders may feel manipulated as well,...
How did the other players react to your trade block proposal anyway?

2 closed borders, 2 did not. I don't remember which. Commodore I know closed - I think the other was TT. I think 2metra and Jowy still have OB with him - so, it hurts him, just not as much as it could.
I was debating it - music, calendar and drama is a lot, after all. I hadn't thought about him kicking azza's ass with maces, though. that's a good point.
I think I'll not do it - will trade for theo and calendar with TT and for philo with 2metra. Theo and CS makes for fast paper, which is nice...

Theo + Feudal = boat Jowy's capital. Especially now that he's not closing borders with Cornflakes.
Its good that relations are souring between Commodore and Cornflakes. If they both went the opposite direction that would be bad for us.
Again, I totally support giving Azza everything for free. Azza constrains Cornflakes and buys us time. Let him spend his money on upgrades. Fighting a proxy war with Cornflakes will delay a war with Cornflakes. And you've pretty much identified yourself as somewhat hostile toward Cornflakes.
2metra not closing borders is disappointing. Jowy not closing is predictable. They're natural allies in carving us up and fighting Commodore.
PS: Don't sweat the tech. You'll eventually get it for cheap. More cities, more food, more production.

I dunno that I'm hostile to cornflakes, as much as trying to keep the guy winning the game from... you know... winning
commodore got machinery and offered to me for CS. I dithered around and thought I accepted it, but didn't, so i reoffered it and started on paper.
It's not time to attack Jowy. We have more city sites to settle and it's not like he's done anything to us.
btw - I've been bad about pics - I'll do a big update on sunday so you can see where we are - it's been a busy week for me on other fronts.

Well I get that you're not be thinking about hostilities towards Cornflakes, but you can't guarantee that he sees it that way. Its one thing to close borders, its another to organize a movement against him.
Wow, we have machinery and CS! So macemen.
I do agree on Jowy, I'm just always throwing it out there. The later we end up warring with him the better. His philosophical advantages will wane over time relative to our financial and his scary elephant advantage will wane as well. Also, we leverage our defensive advantage by expanding and holding; not by attacking.
Still I do think of him as an inevitable conflict, and one that has a better chance of propelling us to a win relative to Cornflakes. Also, an unpredictable move based on unpredictable timing has a better chance of succeeding.
Oh, and the Great Artist. I would have loved us to be able to culture bomb the north of Lake Blue. We're now at risk of Cornflakes doing that to us. Again, on the hostilities. Cornflakes might not see you as a low threat level that you'd like to think you represent.
I really think that we need Feudalism and a couple of strong Longbows in any cities we plant north of Lake Blue. I really want that area, but its an even higher risk proposition now that Cornflakes has the GA.

Oh wait, duh. Cornflakes launched his Golden Age with the Artist? Nevermind.
