[SPOILERS] joey and scooter's thread: FUN THINGS ONLY

Anyone ever seen a city flipped by culture, taken back, and then proceed to flip the very same city that flipped it in the first place 150 turns later? cool

Also, some pointless event. I offered the city back to plako b/c imho this mechanic has no place in a multiplayer game. If he doesn't want to accept the trade or deems it illegal or whatever, he can just take it back no hard feelings - I emptied the free garrison.

I get where you're coming from...but it is illegal in this game.

Well, like I said, whatever he wants to do. If he wants to just declare war and take it, that's fine too, I don't care.

Do you have so many OBs that any particular war wouldnt hurt your economy at this point? Or just dont care at all?

Can we see the f4 relationships circle? I'm curious how many def pacts there are.

A little of both. I need about 200 routes total, and I get like, half of that just from the Aztecs, another 70 from dtay+krill, then there's AT, Molach, WilliamLP, etc. I doubt I even have many routes with plako because he's so much closer to me than other civs.

Holy smokes, do you grow into a 100 city empire yet be so careless ???

This is like a 3M+ soldier stack that's vulnerable to being wiped out to just a couple dozen Commandos... like, even if you didn't think anyone would declare on you, why would you even take this chance???

In other news, TBS turned on the slider last turn, I think for real... a few turns ago, I tried asking (with AI diplo ofc, so who knows what he thinks I was asking) how many turns he expects to hit 3 legendaries, and he replied 20... so I started helping him out again. If it was truly only 20, then OH stands no chance to beat him by themselves before then unless they go into total war mode and/or TBS makes some huge mistake.

Radio completed last turn, so I started queuing up subs and cruise missiles everywhere... ever hear that song on the radio that goes, "and the whole wide world is whistling?" well now its, and the whole wide civ is missile-ing!

What is the reason, you're helping TBS?

Maybe the answer is somewhere within those 46 pages of your thread, but I wasn't following closely.

... yes, I haven't just been transcribing the phone book for 46 pages. lol But, I'll answer for you, Haram:

1.) I have no chance to win. OH and BGN are each twice my size, and I can't expand through AT or plako because of BGN, who has something like 6 or 7M soldiers in view of my southeastern borders. Third place is the best I can do, and guess what, I'm in third place already! Perhaps if BGN hadn't been so aggressive with me I'd be happy to to just expand eastward until I hit the sea again, but, alas.

2.) TBS and I have been allies for much of the game, about the last ~150 turns or so. We've both benefited from a long, peaceful border... twice he had good windows to attack me (first when I was stalled on Bacchus's capital, and then when I skipped rifling) but did not. We've both benefited from resource deals, he's loaned me a lot of money, and I got a huge benefit out of the Confucian AP. He deserves my help, when a bigger, stronger civ comes to bully him.

3.) I think TBS has played a massively more impressive game than OH and BGN. I'm sure OH and Fintourist have been ridiculously efficient, but they've had easy conquest after easy conquest, while BGN conquered some of the weakest players in this game, including one that was set to a fucking AI for a few turns. (WHILE HE CONQUERED IT) In contrast, TBS started in the middle of the continent and had to defend himself from every single civ surrounding him. Me, Xenu (twice IIRC), Furungy (three times), dtay, and dazed (twice, plus that artist bomb), and OH all *attacked* him. Other than me, we're talking real attacks too, all of these players (other than myself) have taken cities or settlers from him. On top of that, he didn't even have coal, despite controlling 50 cities. That's like, a third of his production missing - and what I give him doesn't even make up for that, if BGN or OH want to complain about my help after the game. And yet, he's still the frontrunner to win... amazing. His GPP counter is almost at 5000, a mind-boggling number.

4.) BGN pissed me off royally in-game, so I'm not inclined to help him. I try not to hold it against him outside of game, but in-game I can't quite forgive it. Not that its wrong for a big civ to bully a small one in civ4 multiplayer, as its a central part of the game's politics, but the way he thought I had no right to even defend my interests or do something about it... unreal. You gotta work hard for your money, man.

5.) OH has pissed me off royally outside of game, but I've tried not to let that affect my in-game actions. (e.g. I haven't hit any of his stacks in plako's lands even though I could easily). But still, they're on the opposite end of the earth from me, and we've barely interacted. Their lands are so far away that even if I sent my commando-laden transports towards them now they probably wouldn't arrive before the game ended. So, whatever.

tldr: can't win, can't expand, still have to play turns. so, I try to achieve my interests.

Sorry, but I seem to have missed the case for 5? Unless you're talking the '25 map?
