RBP3 [SPOILERS] - Zara of the Ottomans

So let's do some more diplo:

According to England, Portugal want us to do this:

Quote:to Ottomans: Willem: could you ask them for us, if they could keep the chariot in scales one more turn
2:01 PM me: ah, ok
Willem: and we promise not to kill the roman warrior before they get contact
me: "chariot in scales"
Willem: chariot in scales
needs to stay there one more turn
it's providing the police brutality that our citizens appear to be demanding

Well, we have already moved, so no luck there.

Also Mali have a chariot near England heading for Carthage, so we are going to head to England to try to meet them and Maya at the same time.

Sent to Portugal:

Quote:Hi Portugal

We got your message that you wanted us to stay in Scales for one more turn via England. However, we have already moved Valeria and we didn't get the message until after we moved. Sending message via e-mail is the best way to make sure we get important messages like that.

Nonetheless we have met Rome now, so feel free to kill the warrior whenever it suits you.

Enough Talking!
WarriorKnight of A4

Sending them apologies, although we couldn't have known.

Rome:

Quote:Greetings Rome

Congratulations on meeting the Hyborians. Our Valeria has managed to locate your Smash the lion killer, so we finally meet.

So you have DOWed the Portugese? With one warrior? We hope you have a few more units like mighty AGG Rome should. Anyway, good luck in the war, although as AGG Rome, you shoudn't really need it.

Enough Talking!
WarriorKnight of A4

P.S. 'Enough Talking!' is our standard sign off quote. See the attached picture.

Nothing significant said here.

and Ruff:

Quote:Hi Ruff

We've discussed and and agreed that we would like you to promote Belit to Medic1 if it can be promoted.

We look forward to Belit's return.

T75:

A barb warrior has appeared NE of Nemedia and I don't know how we'll get rid of it. Sancha is busy with DIM trade and the only other unit nearby is Kull who needs to defend Nemedia. We still have 2 turns before it appears on the horse tile so it might be fine to wait until then. Maybe switch Nemedia to an archer?

The other barb warrior has moved near the stone, which our axe has responded by moving on the stone. Expect to be attacked IBT.

Since we can reach Maya and Mali through England's lands, we are going to send an injured Natalia over there to try to contact both of them. There is some 5-6 tiles of neutral land but we will hopefully pass Mali en route so I don't think it's that risky. After that heal and defog England and DIM's river.

Also our last turn of positive money at 0%. Founding 2 new cities next turn, place your bets now. lol I guesstimate we will lose about 5-7 gpt after settling.

So I did a more in-depth look into our 2 problems ATM, our finances and the barb near Nemedia.

Currently we have 9(!) unit costs and 2 supply cost. The good news is that the unit supply cost will go down to 7 or 6 next turn (settlers count as units and hopefully having more cities will allow us to have more free units) and the unit supply will also go down to 0 (since we currently have units outside our borders to settle the new cities and settling them will make it inside our border). The bad news is we will probably get some 10 gpt costs from them (city + distance maintenance) and maybe inflation will get affected too.

The barb near Nemedia is slightly problematic, since we have no units nearby to effectively deal with it. Nemedia is scheduled to whip/chop 2 more workers after HG comes in but I think we will have to change that to an archer or a chariot and only have 1 worker.

Thoughts?

OK, I've checked the micro and we can switch Nemedia to a chariot this turn and whip it next turn to save our improvements. If it doesn't come any closer, we don't have to whip and instead can keep on the worker schedule. Shame that the barb had to come at the only front line city that has a warrior, but that's just what happens.

The consequences if we do whip a chariot is that we can't train 2 workers out of Nemedia anytime soon. Originally, one was going to Brythunia and the other stays at Nemedia. We can probably still build one with assistance of the chop that comes in from the spices. The one to Brythunia is more important since it has gold so Nemedia will be a bit sad for a while.

Also why are we building libraries when we aren't researching anything? smoke We should be building those yummy Hammams instead.

The other option with regard to Nemedia is to move the warrior from Aquilonia over there. Aquilonia has happy cap of 7 and is at size 4 so MP isn't needed, and that will give us two warriors in Nemedia.

If one warrior kills the Nemedia barb the other can move back to Aquilonia OR if we lose a warrior when the axe deals with the barb at Zingara's stone it can move back to Zingara as MP and the warrior form there can move to aquilonia.

Now i've typed it it sounds a bit convoluted so perhaps just building another chariot would be better lol

So we've switched Nemedia to a chariot. frown Hopefully it moves away so we can get back on track (wishful thinking though).

Anyway, more messages:

Quote:Hey,

Did you guys lose a chariot? Not "our" chariot I hope? smile
Let us know, so our poor worker isn't forced to spend a turn in a big scary forest alone...

Regards,

Ilios - DIM

Ummmm....

Quote:Hi,

We regret to inform you that your C&D is off.

Our chariots are fine. Your chariot is still on time to get to the swap tile next turn. Why did you think that we lost a chariot, if you don't mind me asking?

Enough Talking!
WarriorKnight of A4

Yeah, that pretty much sums up everything.

Elsewhere:

Quote:Dear A4,

The initial declaration took place otherwhere and was a defensive move on our part. Your ally sent a stack of Chariots to raze one of our cities and sadly managed to do so successfully.

Well we knew this already, although there problem is that they are assuming that we are already allies with Portugal (which is true but still) and are throwing away any sort of diplo with us. It's not really a bad strategy ATM (since it's them against CAN, which is practically everyone) but long term they won't last long.

T76:

We get to found 2 new cities. jive I have only founded Brythunia ATM since we should try to not make it that obvious (2 score increases right next to each other on civstats are quite noticeable). Will do the other later today.

Anyway, before we founded Brythunia:

And after:

yikes

only 1gpt loss after settling?!? Wasn't expecting that. Hopefully Ophir won't be that bad either. :dancing5:

Better news is that when the road finishes, we will get trade routes with the rest of DIM's cities (hopefully), so that means we have enough for all cities until currency. By then we would have hopefully defogged some Indian and English cities to use.

The barb near Zingara continued onto the city. We attacked it in forest and won, the axe is on 3.8 health.

Re:Valeria, Portugal gave us some valuable info.

Babylon contact:

Quote:Hey guys,

Easier to just email you all at once. As you obviously don't have contact with Babylon please don't reply to all smile.

Babylon's axe is 12N10W of my capital, NE of Rome territory. Here is it's current location in relation to all of you:

11W3S of Exploit's old capital now Indian territory.

7N12W of Ottoman chariot near Scales

7N17W of Aztec warrior near Happy Hour.

So I think it's best if everyone just aims for the southwestern border of Exploit's old capital (sorry I can't remember what it's called now). If Aztec's warrior sticks to Indian territory it should be safe from barbs.

So here is your various position's relative to Exploit's capital then:

Ottoman chariot is 10S1E of Ex. Cap.

Aztec Warrior is 10S6E of Ex. Cap.

Babylon has told me they are heading directly east so should make contact with India in around 8 turns. Ottomans could meet slightly earlier if they move NW. Aztec's probably safest heading to Ex. Cap. and holing up to heal and wait for Babs to arrive. If any of this is confusing, tough luck, my brain hurts.

Mukha
CBE

and Byzantium contact:

Quote:Gah yes again!

Byzantium's exact position after moving this turn (T76) is 2S1W of Karaoke Tuesday. Putting it 5N1E of Ruff's warrior's position on t75 and 5N6E of the Ottoman chariot. It's heading SW again next turn.

Mukha
CBE

jive Soon we'll have met everyone.

Anyway, best thing to do is go find Byzantium since it's closer, than head to try to find Babylon's axe. NE is the way to go.

Unfortunately, the barb near Nemedia has kept moving forwards. If we whip, then we have a happy cap of 2.yikes Where are those Hammam's? Will start building one after the current crisis is resolved.

Also no-one has built the HG yet, and we get it next turn. jive Fingers crossed.

well that wasn't too bad lol if Ophir is the about the same we can be happy with that i think.

Not much we can do except whip the chariot, one good thing that comes from it is that the chariot can cover the worker we get from DIM. i think its best to chop the spice forest into a Hamman.

i see our chariot and DIMs worker are in the same tile... changeover time?
Reply

Founded Ophir. We didn't lose any gpt. jive

Next turn we should hopefully get HG and connect to the rest of DIM's cities and get back on track.
Reply

We got HG! :2dance:

Demog's are looking much better now, 1st in prod and 2nd/3rd in food. GNP will hopefully follow shortly.

The barb near Nemedia is no more. We might want to move him to Brythunia since there are 2 barb warriors there which could disrupt our worker schedule. Or we could keep it there since DIM's worker (Sysiphus) is on our border. Maybe we should build troops instead of Stables at Aquilonia against the barbs for now?

We've gifted the chariot to DIM, however we don't have trade routes with them yet. Maybe next turn we will.

It appears that we aren't the only one with 6 cities as the lowest export/import is -12GNP. But it doesn't appear to be anyone we know yet. Well, either that or currency has been discovered, which seems unlikely.

Actually, I think we can still build/whip 2 workers from Nemedia. 2 turns to grow to size 4, 1 turn to put something in and then whip with the overflow coming in from the chop. Downside is that we would have a happy cap of 1 yikes until the silver comes online and we would have a lot of whip unhapiness.

Also I'm not sure what to do with Natala. 2 barbs have appeared around Boring (one 2N and one 2E of the city) and we are at 2.2 health. We should heal but we are supposed to be heading E to meet Mali/Maya. Mali is coming to us with a chariot but Maya supposibly have a warrior in English lands and I don't think they want to trek all the way over to Carthage. Carthage do have a few units to the SE of Boring so we could hide among them.

Anyway, what do we think?
