Yeah, I grabbed a discounted 24" IPS monitor on "cyber Monday." That plus my wife despising the CRTs is what prompted the sale. Don't get me wrong - my new monitor is great. It's thin, light, uses little power, has super sharp text, and can tilt+swivel+pivot+rise/lower. It's definitely the 21st century and it was time to make the move. Still though it's like moving from an 80s Ferrari to a new Porsche Boxter. The new car is pretty darn nice, in fact it's objectively better in every way. But the old one was still the champ in its day...
(I know I'm way too nostalgic over a PC component)

You should remember that speech for your wife in a few decades.

Hey Team 1, this is a thread for turn tracking updates, not for spammy posts about computer equipment!
But yeah, I liked CRTs too and finally stopped using mine this past year too. It started to fade and become fuzzy after fully 10 years of constant service. Picked up a 1600x1200 Dell LCD on the cheap. That does have a ramification for any next Civ reports from me, since now my screenshots will be awkwardly super-big instead of that nice manageable 1024x768... any suggestions on how to deal with that?

I use picresize.com.

It's really just me (and Speaker making fun of me), but yeah, I'll be quiet before Sullla breaks out the ban hammer. That said, it's the turn tracking and tech issues thread actually. Moving my server took the game down, so it's at least, a tiny bit, related to that.

Re: Image Resizing - I used Irfanview to batch resize back in the Civ4 SG era. Imageshack will also resize + upload at once, which works well if you're only working with a few images.

Oh, of course the downtime warranted posting here. I'm just hoping Sullla's ungrumpy enough today that we can have a fun side conversation without getting shunted off to some other thread where nobody will see it.
As for image resizing, of course I can use Irfanview or whatever program... I mean the problem is that text on the Civ 4 screens gets blurry and unreadable when shrunk. Maybe the answer is to boost the text size within Civ itself (by way of the theme file that defines the fonts) so it survives the shrinking. I'll experiment sometime.
Or I suppose what I really want is a hotkey that bounces Civ into 1024 resolution (windowed mode would be fine), takes a screenshot, then returns to 1600. Wonder if DLL coding can do that...

Both of those ideas are way beyond my level of expertise. One very low tech thing I'm sure you've thought of but I'll comment on anyways - I see some screenshots captured from higher resolutions simply cropped. Much of the time the unit commands, tech and gold info, etc aren't relevant so you can crop about half the screen away.
