WW8: Madness in Outer Space (game thread - players only)

Well you did vote for yourself, Rowain. That was completely unnecessary. But yeah. Sorry.
I have to run.

That wasn't altogether surprising, but sorely disappointing.

Whelp Rowain being Rowain means we have no more mislynches left even if I do prevent the kill tonight.

But if you do, we have a confirmed villager.
I have to run.

Sigh.

If you're really a roleblocker, good luck Lewwyn.

The crazy SCUM was sneaking through the corridors for the third night in a row. Most areas were quiet, but passing by one cabin, he heard some evidence of activity, mostly drowned out by the tunes of the classic love song "when a man loves a man". Moving on, he located his intended target for the night, who was sleeping like a baby, hugging a bottle. Not in the mood for any more physical exertions, he grabbed the bottle and smacked it heavily over his victim's head. When the head promptly started to dissolve, the SCUM took a curious look at the bottle label. Unthinned Janx spirit. Not the worst way to go, he thought with a shrug.

On the next morning, the AI was delighted at the conundrum posed by the headless body. Of course, the victim's identity and mind-state could readily be deduced from the residual heat pattern on the pillow and the wafts of intoxicating Janx fumes still lingering in the room. Not to mention the diary on the nightstand.

Sareln is dead:
Sareln, you are a regular nutcase, but NOT afflicted with SCUM. You are an innocent pilot, and want to root out the SCUM so you can repair the spacetime portal and get out of here. (Or at least, bring in some fresh beverages.)

In the past, you've participated in your fair share of pub brawls, and you've picked up some [strike]dirty[/strike] pragmatic tricks along the way.

You may cast a lynch vote every day. You win the game if/when all remaining players are innocent, like yourself.

You also have the following one-shot day-time ability (can only be used during the DAY phase):
- Kick: Invoke this ability by posting Kick: <Name> in yellow and bold. The player you target will receive a vicious kick in the nuts and become wounded. If he is already wounded, he will die and the day will end. You may only use this ability once.

Important note about day-time abilities: If a lynch has been reached, you may no longer invoke any day-time abilities, even if the lynch results have not been posted yet. Please make sure to double check that no lynch has been reached before invoking a day-time ability.

Day 4 begins. With 5 players alive, it now takes 3 votes to reach a lynch.
If you know what I mean.

I saw the argument between Lewwyn and Catwalk as basically two villagers fighting each other. I think it's pretty obvious now that not everything is right with novice and...

Ahhhh shhh it.

Enough of this farce.

In the words of Michael Rosenbaum from Smallville.

"You were right [Mr. Kent], I AM the villain of the story"

STAB: Catwalk

Vote: Novice

Poor Catwalk was having a rough week. After being unfairly ridiculed for having the mental capacity of a hare, and cruelly punished for having the sexual appetite of a rabbit, both his body and his spirit was starting to break. He was hunched over the bar, spreading his legs a bit in an attempt to ease the ache, as Erebus walked up, patting his back.
- Cheer up, old man, it will all be over soon!
Erebus walked on, before retracing his steps with an apologetic mine.
- I'm sorry, looks like I forgot this, he said, retrieving his dagger, which made a sucking noise as it was pulled from Catwalk's back.
Catwalk slumped to the floor with a resigned look. A pair of medbots appeared, rushing him to the small emergency ward behind the kitchen, leaving a trail of blood.

Unfortunately, whatever intelligence was guiding the surgical equipment was either deranged or grievously impatient. It quickly decided that none of the nine lives could be saved, and proceeded straight to the autopsy. For once the AI could easily decode the mind state, watching in real time as the brain was dissected.

Before you came to the Space Bar, you made a pit stop at the Kille Mall near Vega. One of the items you purchased was an autonomic defensive drone. Unfortunately, its force fields interfere with your own [strike]penile[/strike] combat implants, so you cannot deploy it in your own defense. You could tell it to go protect someone else, though. Of course, you got it second-hand, and it does have some combat scars already, so you don't know how effective it would be. And it probably won't survive more than one more engagement. At any rate, it's probably worth a shot, but you wouldn't want to waste it on protecting some weakling.

You may cast a lynch vote every day. You win the game if/when all remaining players are innocent, like yourself.

You also have the following one-shot night-time ability:
- Protect: Invoke this ability during the night by sending me a message with the words Protect: <Name> (or something equivalent but more verbose, if you prefer). The player you target will be partially protected by your defensive drone against night-time attacks. If someone attempts to kill the player, he will not die, but instead become wounded. A wounded player keeps playing, but will die if he suffers an additional wound. You may not choose to protect a player who is already wounded. You may only use this ability once.

The day is over. Write-up to follow shortly.

- Finally, there you are, said Zakalwe, looking up from the ship console. What took you so long?
- They wouldn't part with the transdimensional axis twister. We had to murder the majority of them.
- Good thing we're both raving psychopaths, or our empathy might have gotten in the way!
- Yeah. Looking forward to regaining sanity, to be honest. Hopefully the next jump should sort that out.
- Well anyway, said Zakalwe, accepting the disco ball, now that we've got this gizmo I should be able to complete the repairs.
- I did watch some of your antics on the monitors, btw... not sure why you couldn't just make off with the TDA twister right away, but whatever. As long as you were having fun. What happened to the last two schmucks, anyway?
- I think they were starting to get along really well. They're still in one of the cabins, making noise.
- Hmmm, good for them. I guess we'll leave them to it, then.

Novice and Lewwyn live happily ever after:
Novice, you are a regular nutcase, but NOT afflicted with SCUM. You are an innocent pilot, and want to root out the SCUM so you can repair the spacetime portal and get out of here. (Or at least, bring in some fresh beverages.)

Contraband is your middle name. Your ship has more concealed sections and hidden crevices than a Hutt. (A species you have had some dealings with, as a matter of course.)

You may cast a lynch vote every day. You win the game if/when all remaining players are innocent, like yourself.

You also have the following one-shot night-time ability:
- Seek Shelter: Invoke this ability during the night by sending me a message with the words Seek Shelter (or something equivalent but more verbose, if you prefer). You will seek shelter in your maze of hidden hull sections. If someone tries to kill you during the night, you should be able to evade them with relative ease, but the prolonged exposure to the various fumes and drug residues that permeate these sections of your ship won't be good for your health. As a consequence, you may not be killed on the night that you seek shelter, but you will become wounded in the process, whether you are attacked or not. As a wounded player, you will keep playing, but you will die if you suffer an additional wound. You may not seek shelter if you already are wounded. You may only use this ability once.
Lewwyn, you are a regular nutcase, but NOT afflicted with SCUM. You are an innocent pilot, and want to root out the SCUM so you can repair the spacetime portal and get out of here. (Or at least, bring in some fresh beverages.)

On the outside, you're a big bear of a man, but deep down inside, you're really just a love-sick puppy. When looking for love, you don't take no for an answer; in fact, you rarely bother asking at all.

You may cast a lynch vote every day. You win the game if/when all remaining players are innocent, like yourself.

You also have the following one-shot night-time ability:
- Seduce: Invoke this ability during the night by sending me a message with the words Seduce: <Name> (or something equivalent but more verbose, if you prefer). You will seduce the player in question, taking him to your cabin for a night to be remembered (by you, at least). Sane or SCUM, no-one will be able to resist your powers of [strike]sedation[/strike] seduction. The player you target will be unable to perform any night-time actions other than the unspeakable acts that take place in your cabin. The repulsive sounds of said acts are also sure to keep anyone that approach your cabin from actually daring to enter, so you will both be safe from night-time attacks. Your target will not remember your time together, perhaps because he is too traumatized by the experience, or maybe due to the little "aphrodisiac" that you slipped him. Though if he planned on doing something other than sleeping, he will know that something isn't quite right, and that his planned night-time activity was disrupted. You may only use this ability once (people will be wary of accepting any drinks from you after the first incident).

- So, do you think, we'll ever live to tell this story, asked Erebus, sliding into one of the pilot seats aboard the unconventional spaceship.
- I doubt it, said Uberfish, joining him. That seems highly improbable.
- Infinitely so, Zakalwe added with a chuckle, engaging the drive.

Erebus and Uberfish are the winners!
Erebus, you are a regular nutcase, and also seriously afflicted with SCUM. Your only wish is to exterminate all of the so-called "sane" pilots, so you can resume work on your giant amusement park, and maybe add a cricket pitch.

Even before you contracted SCUM, you were a sneaky fellow. Cloak and dagger are your middle names.

During the day, you may cast a lynch vote. Every night, one of the SCUM may attempt to perform a kill. Please inform me by the end of each night about who you want to kill, and which one of you should attempt to perform the kill. You win the game if/when the SCUM comprise at least half of the remaining players.

You also have the following one-shot day-time abilities (can only be used once each, and only during the DAY phase):
- Hide: Invoke this ability by posting Hide in yellow and bold. You will go into hiding for the remainder of the day, meaning that you cannot post, be lynched, or targeted with any day-time action for the remainder of that day, and also that your own lynch vote will be disregarded. You may only use this ability once, and only if there are 7 or more players left alive.
- Stab: Invoke this ability by posting Stab: <Name> in yellow and bold. The player you target will be wounded.

Uberfish, you are a regular nutcase, and also seriously afflicted with SCUM. Your only wish is to exterminate all of the so-called "sane" pilots, so you can resume work on your giant amusement park, and maybe add a cricket pitch.

You are an expert AI hacker; a skill that you learned in a previous career [strike]rigging elections[/strike] as a campaign advisor for high-ranking politicians.

During the day, you may cast a lynch vote. Every night, one of the SCUM may attempt to perform a kill. Please inform me by the end of each night about who you want to kill, and which one of you should attempt to perform the kill. You win the game if/when the SCUM comprise at least half of the remaining players.

You also have the following abilities:
- Double-vote: Invoke this day-time ability by posting Double-vote: <Name> in yellow and bold. The player you target will receive two lynch votes from you. You may use this action multiple times during the same day, to switch your double-vote around, but once you have used it one day, you cannot use it again on any subsequent day.
- Heal: Invoke this day-time ability by posting Heal: <Name> in yellow and bold. Use this to heal any player (including yourself) that has become wounded, for whatever reason. Wounded players are vulnerable, as a second wound will kill them. The player you target with this action will be healed instantly, courtesy of the high-tech medpack you're carrying, and revert to his normal, healthy state. You may only use this ability once, as you only have one medpack.
- AI hack: Invoke this ability by sending me a private message. At a time of your choosing (constrained by my ability to be on-line), I will post a day-time interlude where the local AI of the Space Bar makes an announcement. You get to specify what the AI says, as a message of no more than 50 words. You may use this ability once per day (if you wish), for whatever devious purpose you can come up with. If you prefer, I can also include your AI message in the morning write-up instead of as a separate interlude.

Important note about day-time abilities: If a lynch has been reached, you may no longer invoke any day-time abilities, even if the lynch results have not been posted yet. Please make sure to double check that no lynch has been reached before invoking a day-time ability.

Record of night-time actions:
  • Night 1: Novice seeks shelter. Erebus kills Injera (Novice was considered but deemed too risky).
  • Night 2: Catwalk protects Rowain. Serdoa guards Uberfish. Erebus kills Serdoa (changed from Rowain to Serdoa ten minutes before the deadline).
  • Night 3: Lewwyn seduces Novice. Erebus kills Sareln.
If you know what I mean.
