The reason I miss is usually because the page isn't done loading and the layout suddenly jumps around. But if the logout function was e.g. at the bottom of the page somewhere, it wouldn't be an issue.
Seriously? How about waiting until the site has finished loading instead of bothering the administrators with an UI change? The behaviour you describe is not uncommon, for example if I log into chess.com too fast it will "jump" and I hit the Facebook login instead of the regular login if I am too impatient. But it certainly never crossed my mind to gather support for a chess.com layout change...

There's no problem with bringing forward an issue as long as there's no expectation that all will be accepted as something to change (or that you expect it done quickly hehe) Sometimes it's nice to have little easy to make changes if they can make things better for people.
This one though I don't think is something that really needs addressing but maybe Brick or KoP who deal more with themes will want to. Or might be something to look into future of having an actual mobile theme though I think tapatalk sort of takes that roll and I'd still suggest trying it for use on mobile. There's a reason things like that exist as designing something to work well on desktop monitor as well as a 6" mobile screen is practically impossible.

Why do we even need a log out link displayed so prominently, though? Does anyone ever use it?
I don't come here to rant whenever I misclick on a link, but accidentally logging out is pretty annoying. I'm just venting, and figured feedback on usability would probably be appreciated, anyway. Indeed, Yaz responded almost instantly, which is great.
I'm not going to start a petition about it on change.org.
If you know what I mean.

I use it It's also standard to pretty much every single site that the logout option should be pretty much where the login option is which I think is a good idea.

The apart calm theme uses more of the screen and doesn't have this issue.
I have to run.

There is a problem I have had since the forum migration that I don't think I had before it: Thread pages keep getting longer in my browser while they are loading, for several seconds, because it's still loading the images. This is frustrating when trying to view the latest post in the thread because my browser will jump to the post's location before finishing the image loads, and then I will immediately lose my place (and be unable to read the page for several seconds as it keeps shifting).
I am wondering if this might be an easy thing to fix, by specifying the image dimensions in the tag.

It is especially bothersome since I changed the setting to display 50 posts per page. By the time I finish loading a Pitboss thread, the scroll bar is in the middle, not at the end.

I agree. I switched to 50 posts temporarily, but i couldn't stand the constant shifting-as-images-load each time i opened a thread so I switched back. At least with fewer posts I don't have to scroll down as far to correct it.

I complained in the Welcome Back thread, and NobleHelium's suggestion was helpful:

It works fine on a page with no pictures; on a page with pictures, it jumps me to the right post, but all the pictures above the current position are still placeholders. Once the placeholders are expanded into pictures, I end up the same number of pixels from the top of the thread, but it's now in the middle of some post from the past. IE9, using default board style.
If you click on your address bar and press enter again after the images load, it should take you to the correct post once more.
Not much help with slow loading times, but I usuallly work around that by opening a bunch of different tabs.
