Hey guys, I need to apologise for the sluggish pace of my games. There's a lot going on right now, and I'm afraid I'm not going to have much more time to play in the next few weeks. I promise I won't lose on time, but 1-2 turns per day is all I can guarantee. Sorry about this

Am I correct in thinking that it was not retreating his dark bishop in time (ie, after i got castle'd and my backrank rook couldn't be taken with check anymore) decided the game? (well ... that and his Ke4 in the end which feels wrong) Yes, that was decisive. He actually didn't have to retreat the bishop, but could have move the queen backwards to c2, so it's not attacked after cxd4 and still maintains a pin. yuris125 Wrote:Hey guys, I need to apologise for the sluggish pace of my games. Sorry about this Don't worry, we all agreed on a 24 hour per move setting. For anyone who wants to play faster there is always the live chess option.
Yes, it was a blunder to think the pin was still good. Castling didn't break it, it was the threat of pxQ that broke it.
Well done, taking advantage of my mistake and following up correctly. Now I am in must win mode for the rest of my games.

Sorry about this No problem on the pace, Yuri. You can resign our current game if it will help - its lost from here I believe. I found that the 1-day limit was a bit swift - I played this tourney primarily on the phone with only cursory analysis. I kept pushing gust's game to the back, but that didn't help much either.

Well, the issue is that chess.com doesn't offer a "total" amount of time control ( i.e. 30 days for the game) but only per move time control. And at least IMHO it's not very rewarding to play a game for 3 months and in the end it is decided because someone hangs a piece or misses a simple one-move threat anyway. Also look at RB#2 with a 3 day time control, Ruki and DavidCorperial are still playing their first game which means only one slow player can drag the tournament on forever. While I loved the freedom to sit and ponder a move for a good while, sleep on it and come back, the disparity in game pace was brutal.

Congrats Jowy! I have trouble vs comps. Well, all but the "randomly select a move" ones.
