[Spoilers] Dreylin's short visit to a late Era

Overview shots:

2-pop whip of Nixon this turn. Also, REM's second Rifle was built IBT.

Scooter:

We can get the 4th Cat there next turn if we Fort the tile 4 from Geese at a cost of 6 Worker turns.

this turn: 1 Cat, 8 Rifles

next turn: 3 Cats, 9 Rifles

or: 4 Cats, 8 Rifles

Also, those two Workers on the Hill 96 from Antiseptic are most likely the two missing Gaspar Workers that we saw at his Cap when we first arrived. That adds an explanation to the war declaration. They have now signed Peace BTW.

I have nothing against landing this turn. 8 rifles can do.

Next galleon we equip with settler and replant city to get our navy into the inner sea.

You have simmed at all, or are on gut too?

Just trying to set up my own sim ... slowly!

I seriously think we must rely on our galleons against Gaspar and I agree that we dont have time to show muscles to Scooter.

So lets try to do it as fast as we can.

My plan against Gaspar was to unload cata and rifles to the 1E from gold tile and put cavalry into galleons may be with 2-3 rifles. Next turn we unload cavalry to the iron and block Gaspar from retreating to Bush. I doubt he will keep more than 1-2 rifles there so we must be able to take it just with Cavs without siege.

Not yet but it is my inner feeling and exactly what is my understanding of civ4 combat mechanics says.

Well, with somewhat approximate promos and fortifications, I ran 20 test runs and only failed to take the city once. Ended up with between zero and two Rifles left unused (had 3 once, average is a little over 1). So if he adds a unit, we probably can't take it but the promo / fortification mix probably has enough flexibility. We can re-run the sims when we see the final situation.

I think I'm going for it.

If he starts adding units, the rest of siege will come in a second wave with settler without delaying attaxk on Gaspar. More siege will result in losing more units by scooter and better odds for us.

I am happy that we are going to capture that jungle hill.

GSpy can move from the current hill to REM's city and back in a single turn to keep an eye:

A few units lining up behind.

And here's the target:

Putting a few ships and a missionary in the queue:

Power graph is still where we dominate:

Time for you to log in and critique if you need. I did send a note to Scooter to advise of the turnsplit & inquire about logging in outside the split ... we'll see if this one gets a reply!

FYI, scooter is fine with logins outside the split with standard "look but don't touch".

Here is the plan:

T296 - we raze ex-barbarian city and unload settler
T297 - we plant city and sail forward
T298 - we unload next to Silkmoths and walk out too. I understand that most of rifles will stay in (?) Dolphins to heal and protect it against possible revenge, but still we can at least deliver more catas to Richard Nixon. Cavalry jumps in galleons
T299 - we start sieging Richard nixon and unload Cavalry behind it. We can also unload some 1-movers to Bush
T300 - we take both cities.

I switched some tiles in Cats to get catapult in 1 turn, so it can take part in our attack. Nothing else I think needs to be changed.
