Aha! I knew I missed an obvious one: Stargates (not that most games go on that long)

If you have 2 stargates at your planets A and B and wish to attack C, you order fleet from A-->B and it will say ETA:Stargate. Then you reselect the fleet and order it to go to C. It will still have ETA:Stargate and get there instantly!

This is a very overpowered tactic especially when combined with Subspace teleporters (huge ships loaded with guns and retro engines can fit in a LOT of weaponry)

I don't think the AI does it, and it seems the result of a bug rather than an on purpose mechanic.
