RB Pitboss #3 [SPOILERS]- Suryavarman II of England

SW sounds good to me for next turn. After that, maybe 1 more SW, depending on what we see and if there is a nice hill to move to.

Here's the demographics file from before the turnchange. Antisocialmunky should have our turn soon.

Revealed a whopping 1 tile by the river. I vote W next turn.

W sounds good to me for T2. I'll be out tomorrow until after 8PM; the turn should flip sometime tonight or tomorrow. According to Civstats, Morgan (Lizzie of France) has ended turn, but still hasn't settled! I wonder how that'll work for him.

LiPing of France :-p

I snapped a new Demo screenshot. Still only 1 person who has a lake tile. There's an expansive leader with 10 or 11 forests in their BFC + freshwater based on the Life Expectancy data (91 percent is 11 health)

W sounds good to me as well for next turn.

Interesting that France is still moving the settler. Li Ping saw something, moved, saw something else, and eventually settled a very strong capital. I wonder if Morgan/DMOC saw something, or if they are just moving on the theory that breaking the map makers' pattern will benefit them?

Wonder if the Ottomans will keep moving as well, or settle this turn? Losing 2 (or more!) turns vs other human civs seems like a poor decision, unless you believe you have a very high probability of getting a stronger capital.

A couple PitBoss noob questions:

- We had a reload this afternoon -- does this explain CivStats showing Kyan increasing score to 28, then decreasing score to 11? I can not think of anything else that would "undo" settling the capital.

- Once our team ends the turn, can we still log in (for screenshots, demos, etc.)? I did not want to try it just in case it caused trouble, but it would be good to know if I could or not.

Yes, you can log in (and change builds) after ending turn. That's how I got the screenshot. I don't think it will let you move units, but haven't had an opportunity to try.

The civstats score decreasing was from the reload, which I assume was to the beginning of the turn.

I caught a lunch break, and played the turn, moving west.

We should probably keep our discussion of moves from the other games (re: settler moves) to a minimum. Not everyone in RBPB2 is playing in this game, and I don't want anything to accidentally be over the line.

Our borders pop next turn.

I'll try to set up a WB sandbox today or tomorrow, and game out some scenarios (Hunting --> AH vs. straight AH vs. BW; Warrior next vs. second worker. If we had BW, then 2nd worker would be a stronger play, so I think Warrior next would make sense.) The hardest part will be getting those rivers right. As soon as Morgan settles, then we can try to guesstimate:
How many players are researching techs with a pre-req bonus (+2 to GNP), and how many players are working river tiles (+1) (should be most teams).

Also, by WBing, we can see what our worker's going to be doing. Probably mining the river Grass Hill (GH) once the farm's done. AH won't come in until the mid-20s at the earliest, and the worker should be finishing the farm on T17 (worker completes EOT12, on T13 puts in T1 of 5 for farming, completing on T17). At maximum growth, we'll grow to size 2 at EOT18 (4 turns @ 3 fpt + 2 turns @ 5 fpt = 22 food), and can knock out the warrior at EOT20 (2 overflow + 6 hammers from T13-18 + 4hpt for 19 and 20 working the plains hill. We can finish faster, if needed, by switching off the rice). We should have 3t of warning with our borders expanding, enough time to finish the warrior as long as it's T14 or later.

We're about at the point where we need to decide soon if we're going to bring Gulliver back, keep sending him onward into the great unknown to meet players, or have him circle around our territory to explore it. I'm leaning towards having him circle our territory. Our first settler will be here soon enough that we'll need to know where we want to put him.

Good point. Hopefully what I mentioned is not a big secret to anyone at this point -- I think everyone in PB2 knows Li Ping moved before settling. Should not tell them much they would not have already guessed. But I will try to be more careful in future.

I made a first attempt at this today, just planning with a spreadsheet. But I realize I have already made one significant mistake and will need to redo it. duh

I think we will want AH as quickly as possible to get the sheep improved soonest. We need that second strong improved tile quickly. I think we want a warrior next so Gulliver can continue exploration. A second worker will then be a high priority, although BW would help greatly with that for some chops with EXP bonus.

As I mentioned before we got our start, animal food really did not fit all that well with our starting techs, and where we want to research early to take best advantage of our EXP trait. frown

I am not sure we will need to work the plains hill for the warrior -- unless we have a threat we may want more growth and commerce instead (the sheep tile, most likely). But we will see.

AH should be done T24 (10C * 1.2 +1 Sid = 13 bpt for 14 turns = 182, or a bit more with overflow from Agri). Our worker will have time to mine the river grass hill, then may have 1 "dead" turn before starting the sheep pasture. Maybe we can fit in 1 turn of farming on the river plains 1N of the sheep? We probably want that cottaged, really, but for lack of anything better for that one turn.

I like the circle the capital idea -- we will want to know what is nearby for our next city soon enough.

A request: could you (and all of us) turn on resource bubbles for the exploration screen shots? Makes things a lot more obvious when looking at the static picture and not able to mouse over things.

A second silks, could be useful for trade and commerce. smile And what looks like more peaks to the south of them, along with more desert. Hope there is some food over there.

Did you grab a screenshot of the demos? I can grab one later tonight, if needed.
