SG3-Monarch Can't Hold Me!

My opinion was basically either move far enough to get two strong city sites from all that food, or found in place. Since no one wants to travel far enough to get two good city sites, I vote for founding in place. I think if we move one south, our capital gets weaker because we pick up extra coastal tiles, and lose a river hill, and at least two river grassland tiles, and we might lose resources out there in the fog. Also, I understand the desire to settle on a plains tile, but it looks like we will pick up more plains by moving south.

In place: GES, Kyan

1S: Nakor, Tatan

2S: TT

Feel free to keep discussing until we come to some sort of consensus.

Also, there is a river running horizontal accross the top of the screenshot. The more south we go, the more of those juicy riverside grassland we lose. Don't underestimate them- riverside grassland are a beautiful tile. Coast on the other hand is pants unless we are financial, have TGL or Collosus...

The first we definitely don't have, the latter two we won't have for ages or at all. Furthermore, we're philosophical, the more food the better!

Right, I'll break the tie and say settle in place

I'll do my best to get us started off tonight.

I was planning for us to do 20-15-10-10-10.

Anyone have any objections to that?

No problem with settling in place!
I do hope you will go worker first.

(GES, can you send me the Vicky save?)

I am thinking Archery, then Sailing, then Mysticism, with a warrior-->barrack-->archer-->warrior start. bang

I plan to go Agri--Bronze Working, towards a Worker-->Warrior-->Worker start I think. Which means I will probably keep our warrior close by on Barb duty.

It leaves you passing off on odd xx5 turn numbers the whole game. I like 20-15-15-10-10 to start SGs. smile

T0: Found in place. Reveal another clam tile at the mouth of the river. Now I really wish I had moved to the tile below the mouth of the river. That would've been a really strong city, and left room for a very strong city to the south as well. Now those clams and crabs are essentially wasted. We do add spices to our city from out in the fog. I found Gluttonville because of all the food.

T1: Scouting reveals a fish near the crabs.

T2: Scouting reveals a cow down south.

T5: We find Mansa Musa down south. Gluttonville expands and reveals another cow and deer in the NE, and two Elephants in the south. We also see ice caps nears the crabs, so we are far up north. Doubt this is an Archipelago now.

T9: Ag in. Onto Bronze Working. Realize we may need to plant a city on that little lake to get the clams workboated.

T10: Marble revealed near Elephants.

T11: More cows east of Marble/Phants.

T13: Gold revealed.

T15: Worker in. Onto Warrior. Move worker onto rice.

T18: Reveal stone and more rice.

T19: Kill a wolf.

T20: Fresh water rice farm finished. Growth in 1 turn. Worker towards the corn.

Good job, GES. Seems you were right about the city placement after all... although there seems to be land to settle west of the crabs.

Now, where to settle next... do we know where Mansu is?

Also, can you upload the save?

10-tile inland seas aren't big enough to allow boat building, though they do count as coastal otherwise (and enable lighthouses). To get a boat in there you will need to have a city on the coast of a 20+ tile sea, and make a canal to that one.
