Well, Gaspar is actually my overweight sister, fwiw.
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.

Commodore, too soon for the Gaspar jab don't you think? Unless he's playing in this game and this is now a BANTER THREAD!!! DUN, DUN, DUUUUUN!!!!
Btw, no public diplo here right? We must protect the innocent.

Catwalk Wrote:slowcheetah, I'm strongly tempted to sign up with Boldy instead given recent developments (provided xenu joins Commodore). Would you hate me terribly if I were to abandon you?
Slowcheetah, for some reason that youtube link crashed my phone after I played it. Casus belli!!!!!

So, in the post mortem of this game. After every tree, even in the smallest of parks has been chopped down. After thousands of people have been whipped to death in order to create weapons of war to protect the rest of the huddling masses. After hundreds of those weapons of war have been flung to their deaths because those sixty percent odds were "too good to pass up". After all of this strife and suffering. The reason most cities are composed entirely or orphans. Is because YOUR PHONE BROKE?!?!?!?!?!?!?
No, if the phone had simply broken on its own I could have burned down the factory where it was built and taken down the cartel responsible for such shoddy craftsmanship as to build a phone incapable of playing a 5 second video without crashing (RIM damn you!)
But you posted the link, which lets the phone maker off the hook. And besides, even the flimsiest pretext is good enough for war.

Edit: Anyway, I could just as easily pick a fight with you for your strident refusal to post anything but blurry screenshots.

Well if he picks Mao I'm almost required to team with him. I'm guessing you are looking for something more interesting...do I hear Toku of Zulu (playing for second place) or Churchill of America (playing for last place, or tower defense, or...something?)
On a serious note is there any interest in anonymizing this game? Just to throw a variant in, since that's what we do around here. Since it's AW and CTON it wouldn't really change anything inside the game, only your perception of the game. And if we're not doing a banter thread we won't spill the beans that way. As long as no one names their civ, leader, cities, or units in a way that makes them identifiable I'm not sure how we would discover it during the game. This would require the snake pick to take place via PM or I'm to a non-player, who could post the picks made as they become unavailable. And if we send saves via tracker we don't have to have a person's email address to send it to directly (not that that has to be a problem either. New forwarding email addresses for the players, if necessary).
So what is the point? To me anonymity removes metagame expectations and makes it more about civ than playing your opponent. Making the best moves from the information available on the board rather than guessing X-Com is about to send endless waves of axes at you. If you guys don't think this would be fun we can leave it out, I'd just like to try it. But I'm just the ded-lurker, I don't get a vote.

If you all agree an anonymity, I can act as the voting proxy for everyone.
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.
1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.
2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.
3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.
4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.
