It is?
I've never played it. Just from what I've read online it guarantees you a strong capital.

Yeah, in my experience. When I played co-op with a friend, we used that setting a lot to get good starts.
Sometimes one player would get a 10 resource start, and the other just 1. It's really weird like that.
Once we turned it off we never went back to using it.

I'm really eager to start this. My BTS game is on hold, the FfH game is geting a map done (not a problem with Civ 5 )... I'm having Civ withdrawal! Besides, the game is new and shiny (though it doesn't shine that well in my bad PC).

Me too
If nobody has any problems with the settings and/or bans we can go ahead and get our snake pick decided. We should make the turn order reverse pick order. In which case I pick last since I'll be setting up the game. If someone wants to take the remaining five players and throw out an order for picking though, we can get this show on the road. However, if anyone does want to discuss the settings/bans more there's no rush. I'd rather get settings we're happy with since we'll be playing this game for a few months
I've messaged T-Hawk for a forum.

Well there's the out of game stuff. Diplomacy? Spoiler threads? Sharing screenshots?

lol, I forgot completely to put that in the settings discussion.
I was thinking AI diplo.
Normal spoiler threads (if you want to keep one anyway).
No banter thread.

Please do write spoiler threads; I for one will be watching this to see if Civ V is fun!

Fine by me. I wouldn't mind having diplo, though. I just won't do it that much.

I would rather have AI-diplo, simply to keep this a low time investment. But I won't mind if we do have some - just keep in mind that if we do it, that might actually change the focus of the game enough that what you do mechanically isn't important at all anymore. Civ5 probably is worse in that than Civ4 I'd guess.
No banter thread please, as far as I've seen those devolve most of the time into either open diplo or upsetting others.
