I like how they charge the same amount in Euros despite being a European company and not having the usual VAT excuse.

Sounds pretty impressive but it's still a augmenting utility at the end of the day... and I'm rather skeptical that it'll work properly.

Their PR has gotten really amusing in the last couple of years, noticed it around Magicka, dunno if it was always that way or if it changed to that, but it's appreciated.

I liked the 40 page PDF of differences between EU3 and EU4, I feel good to play once it's finally released.

Not exactly the right thread here, but close enough.

I bought EU3 a month back (or so) and have been messing around with it since, playing Castille/Spain, but the game has become a bit samey, dow American nation, win, colonise while waiting for BB to go down, rinse and repeat.

I'm just wondering if there are any nice fun nations to play, that don't throw you in the deep end but offer more varied strategic choices? I had a look at Austria but the starting mission (take the three provinces bordering Sudtirol) tends to have Hungary offering you peace on the terms of "we want your eastern most provinces", unless you wait forty years. And I'm not too sure of other nations.

just about every nation in europe thats more than one province fits your specificiation, Brian. I like Italy - Florence and Naples are both a lot of fun. the ottomans look like fun too.

I had fun with Austria, I'd encourage you to try again with them. The starting mission can vary, or you can ignore it for a time. You have a chance to conquer a lot of people around you, or go with being the good guy, getting the emperorship of the HRE and settling all the petty squabbles and external threats that come up.

Naples is good, as is venice for a bit more of a challenge, depending on when you start.

Plus a lot of the game is based on what you want to do with it, so I have fun making goals that aren't quite optimized and trying to fulfill those. Play as Aragon to form Spain... and then forgo all colonizing and try to conquer france. Or maybe Austria needs a turn to try and become a colonizing superpower. Find what kind of challenge you enjoy most about the game and then find a fun looking way to do it.

yeah austria is fun too. they are easy mode though. probably the third easiest country, after castile and france, imo. maybe 4th after Britain, I've never tried Britain.

Minamoto of Japan is good, you start as the shogun and can easily unify Japan through Royal Marriages and Spy Forge Claims. After that, it's a constant lookout for opportunities to expand without angering the Ming.
