Okay. Azza is 12/12 and wetbandit is 16/16. So most likely explanation is that we 3 have met each other and noone else. I shall call us the Azbanach love triangle for now.

Some more signs, and tentative border cities.

Scout in forest vs. lion...not best odds, I take it?

My 'city' sign by scout could of course be on the hill NW of the sign. Perfect strategic placement - secure the peak in borders to spy on wetbandit lands. Hill plant for defense. And 3 resources, in second ring which is fine by me.

Demos, which indicate that someone went warrior first.

If scout dies I suppose I could send out a warrior eastwards...still no contacts from there, need to know if it is just a junk backfill land or a bountyful secret garden there.

Wetbandit and Azza (again) have not ended turn. So I think world opinion will definately turn in my favor if I should eliminate them. (evil laugh).

First blood:

Didn't plan this, but it sure looks funny that "I am Molach's scout"...of course you are.

Moved him a bit closer to heal, but then decided that 1 turn is probably good enough, so he can rough it.
Moving slightly more northwards, probably to glf hill NE-N after one turn of healing. Then due east. Once this immediate area is scouted, he can run off and die in some distant lands.

2 turns left on worker! So excited, about to farm my first farm in a RB pitboss game. Ooooh.

I'm just wondering, since I see that wheat I'm obviously farming it. But what am I farming in other plots, like the floodplain? Why not farm...wheat? You know, bring some seeds from that wheat. And when I learn how those hulking brutes (cows) can be tamed, why not lead a pair of them to different grasslands and...let them breed? It's not like cows were native to Texas or Argentina...in 4000 BC...but they are there now....magic.

I'll never figure this game out.

I am posting.

I went for a second worker, following the Ichabod-5-year-plan. I'll get 3 cities as fast as possible...but with sufficient worker support that they work mostly improved tiles. My scout has revealed a possibility...
There be gold in them thar hills. I can tech to IW pretty fast with this gold. Just sayin'.

I went a bit crazy in paint here.
First, second city. Gold is good. Food is good. The tile with the sign gets all important resources. Close to capital, but so wh(e)at. Overlap means it can help grow cottages for capital. Capital still has 15 tiles to work solemio, and by that time game will be decided? I usually spread out in SP - so I guess this is wrong.

Third city. Plains hill means defensive bonus, as well as better city yield. But it also means no plains hill to mine. It does have an extra GLH to the south.
The closer-to-azza option gives a plains cow in BFC. It will also be able to build a lighthouse for the clams and serve as a naval base vs. Azza cities. It also will push my border up tighter vs. Azza. If I get the chance I tentatively think I settle the aggressive option, but must be sure to have units ready to garrison.

Borders are just drawn halfway between capitals. An aggressive plant vs. wetbandit is GLH N of my wetbandit-molach-border-sign...3 'food' (maybe I steal wheat from Azza's desert hill city...) and with the peak in my first ring I will have a great view on the wet empire. A view to a kill....

Yeah it's early. But with no scouts approaching from east, I'm starting to think I have my back clear. Be interesting to see how much land there is to fill up there.

Oh, all right then. Praet-rush on Azza it is.

It is still a rush even if I go for pottery first, right?

I think that with Praets you (or your opponent) can claim that you're rushing regardless of when you make your attack smile

Glad to hear.

I think my position (if I have iron) is very good as a creative aggressive rome. Two close civs, all three are equidistant from each other. So if one of them decides to rush me, he will know that the other is sure to take advantage of the situation - either by developing superiorly, or by jumping into the fight. In full diplomacy I should be more worried - they could sign a NAP and agree to 'take out' rome and my nasty praets before things get nasty.

I should be able to claim more than my fair share of the borderlands with expanding borders and threat of superios military forces, so this is the economical advantage I must leverage into the later game.

And a rush should work if I see one of my enemies lack a strategic resource...

Tech path: (finish up BW) -> AH ->wheel->pottery->(iron working)

Hopefully I'll have bronze or horses
