[SPOILERS] Slaying Monsters

No copper in BFC. That plains hill is a potential Colossus spot. Not a great city spot by itself, but it does have some early production, immediate food and forests to chop.

Is the GLH still awesome? Looks like grabbing an island won't be an issue. Could found on the PH Sheep east of the capital for a lot of forests, heh.

GLH loses 1 extra trade route, but I think it'd still be very powerful for us on this map. We'll try to get it after Colossus.

I settled Novigrad before the Colossus city. I figured that we'll have time to get the Colossus in our fourth, I hope I'm right.

Some city spots in the south. Not final, of course. I've had these up for a while.

Lots of coast cities in our backlines for Colossus (and GLH).
Ignore the X NW of copper. It was something I considered for a Colossus site, but not anymore.
It's too weak for that purpose even if stronger otherwise. Less forests without border pop, no extra hammer from plains hill settlement, no shared food.

Mardoc's lands. I was hoping to go around but he blocked me off. I could have declared war to pass, but that's a bad idea.
Players are mentally feeble. Any sort of aggression risks relations. It's also why I was happy to notice Fenn declaring on Mardoc. Don't know why, didn't last long. Worker steal perhaps.
It's good for us. In the long term the natural progression on a map like this is for two to team up against one.

Sometimes I wonder if my idea of a casual game is different than others, because I haven't micro'd much and I'm a bit behind the others.
But truth is, we want to look weak in the beginning. I was strong in PBEM64. I got attacked and my other neighbor ended up significantly helping the attacker to take me down. I suppose I was the biggest threat.
What we want is potential. With Colossus, and the GLH, and being the only one with Financial trait, we should have it.

Mardoc settled next to my borders so I entered the diplo game.

This deal was sent to show interest in taking down Mardoc in the future with Fenn. I'll be sending a few more deals to make sure the message is received and understood.

I also noticed that Mardoc is connecting the copper. He probably settled the city because it's his only source of copper. It might be a good idea to stop him and build a few vultures (I just connected mine).
This would be an aggressive move so I have to consider if it's worth it. It would surely antagonize Mardoc. But it also has the potential to take him out of contention at little cost to me.

Hell yes, attack him with vultures. Can they take guerrilla-line promotions?

Nope they can't.

Mardoc settled another city on my borders, so I chose to go to war with him. Clearly he does not know who he's dealing with if he thinks he can hog all the land between us smile
He pulled back the worker from the copper. I moved to the forested hill. Started up vultures, except I will finish the settler in capital.
I think I might just go for a whipping spree to get max vultures. Timing is everything. I need to hit the copper before he swarms in with warriors to connect it, and I need to start killing his cities before he gets archers.

Whip or chop? Looks to be a lot of forests on hand, even if you're saving some for colossus and/or GLH.

Also, for the record, knowing little about the mod I am going to do nothing but advocate whatever sounds most entertaining to me.

That's perfect for this game. I wouldn't even go to war like this if it wasn't a casual game. It's all about the entertainment value shades
Anyway, played another turn. First Vulture is out. We have barbs near capital, that might be bad.

Barbs are also exp for a Vulture though, so it's not all bad. Those hills leading straight into Mardoc's territory are awesome, factoring in Aggressive it means that Chariots won't just eat Vultures alive. If you can prevent him from connecting that copper (and if it's his only source), then you'll be in a good place to at the very least choke him until you can put together enough to start taking cities.
