Hmm... Hemispheres, perhaps? The starts are ugly enough to fit the bill, but I doubt you could generate a reasonable map even with a hundred reloads, given how that script loves to churn out giant masses of barren terrain.

Shudder. There are some default map scripts I'm reasonably certain that I've never played with. Now I feel almost morbidly curious.

Mack seems really pissed about his start, would be a shame if he really resigned.... How about posting this in his thread:
Quote:You know, Ceil said he rolled over a hundred maps to have it balanced, I guess it can't be so bad
Or is that too spoilerish?

Yeah I think that's fine, or even a general lurker impression that his start isn't going to hurt him that bad. He has a big lighthouse lake, honestly I think his start is among the strongest

I had the same thought. Plus he has the most food out of everyone long term (+15 at size 9/10 working the lakes, coasts and sheep). What version of RtR are they using ? Wondering if those lakes will be 3/0/2 or 3/0/3 with a lighthouse and fin.

He has a big lighthouse lake, honestly I think his start is among the strongest You don't have an unlimited health/happy cap in the early game and while this city might be OK/good at about size 15 later it does very little to help him early. A strong start is what OT4E has -- riverside wheat to start with (+clam) and a bunch of riverside green hills. Extremely population efficient. He can use nothing but food specials (one of which is among the best) and riverside hills up to size 9.
Mackoti is not going to be getting much out of those lake tiles until way later, and even then they're not that good. You've obviously seen the entire map, so maybe he has some other boons, but it most certainly is not the capital. He doesn't have the worst of it though.
There's no reason to resign or anything, and this was not supposed to be completely balanced, but I'm really surprised you consider it to be strong.

Btw, I am done with picking. Let it be Sitting Bull of Inca.
