Zalson plays one turn at a time [COMPLETE]

Oh, I just noticed it in the May 31st post where you said 'SE-SE-SE (I think)'. Not a big deal; everyone here gets them messed up all the time. NobleHelium's avatar is even designed to assist with this. lol

Turn 31:

Complete a warrior in Mecca, start another warrior (3T)

Move warrior north toward the hut.

Turn 32
Get 36 gold from the hut.
Complete mine and realize that the worker moving onto the gems on T31 was basically useless. Hence why people make complicated worker micro plans... What I should have done was had that worker finish roading the floodplains, and/or had him start roading some of the forests that I'd like to chop.

Turn 33
Warriors both move into position to uncover new mapped territory on Turn 34.

Turn 34
Warrior completes and Mecca grows to Size 3. Starts a settler (10T, but really more like 5T -- I'll chop and whip out the settler).

Warriors move to uncover more territory. There is no seafood to the south. There are 0 resources to the east. I continue to take poor screenshots.

Hoping there's seafood east of those gems!

Let there be fish...

Seriously, what an inconvenient place for the fish. That seems typical for my games. I'm not sure what my next choice is for research: Hinduism got knocked down several turns ago and happiness shouldn't be an issue. So Pottery seems a good choice.

I contemplated delaying the settler to get Bronze Working a turn earlier but that didn't seem particularly valuable.

I think the next step is Pottery, heading to Writing -- maybe with an attempt at an oracled Code of Laws? Maybe? I'm not sure how to proceed -- and I should start thinking about that now.

Getting screwed by ocean seafood placement sucks. Maybe this hard-to-dotmap land is an omen telling you to go take your neighbor's instead smile

Maybe you could do some deep Prophet-line beeline using the Oracle and Madrassa priests?

Could be worse. You get a tile bonus on rice, and rice isn't as good as some resources.

I'd settle on the rice, definitely. It's still worth 3 food under the city square. It also neatly includes the gems and dyes that will otherwise be awkward to reach. I might even do that before settling north -- a reason is this site is safe from barbarians. And this makes the next research Fishing.

I agree.

My concern is two-fold:

1. I can't access the fish without a border pop. I'll have to see what the timeline for monotheism is. If it is close enough, it solves that problem and gives me an effective yet strange combination of Moai and Wall Street -- that's going to be a fairly hammer and food-poor city site.

2. If mono is out of reach, I'd probably want to play at Stonehenge -- but with only 2 workers, it seems dubious to attempt.

While I definitely will want to settle that city site, it seems like a lot of tactical commitment at this point for a fairly small gain? Am I missing something?

I'll try to consider my tactical maneuvering this evening--and I'll try running the Gold city against the Rice city.

I'll also try to consider what the next 20 turns should hold.

Cracking site for a maddrassa. Gets you the border pop, boosts the gems then early on work the fish/gems and scientists.
