That's right, Asoka because SPI is baller when half the civics are already unlocked, and ORG has a shorter payoff time than FIN. Mansa is our consolation prize.

So we got what we wanted pretty much after all. Top job.

Khmer. Literally the free food in every city. It was good in the Industrial Age with 3 pop cities, it will be even better here. Sulla mooted banning them which I think would have been reasonable really actually.

Then spi/org. I was slightly biased as I was not too keen on another imp game, and there was some debate even post 33 as to whether imp or spi was better. I think going an age earlier you get less out of imp with the settlers being cheaper, yet there are enough civics unlocked to do a fair bit of switching, and restrict those who aren't spi as early on a few civics are missing still compared to an age later. So I feel that if it is debatable which was stronger in industrial, spi should be greater than imp in ren if used right (big caveat there)

Org as Nicolae was keen on an econ trait, and I just can't see fin ever quite edging out org in this setup. There will probably be a cottage cheese cap here, and perhaps 1/2 other cottaged cities, (I forsee a helper city and 1 more gut feeling) but I think with mostly going the hammer route org will pull away, especially with cheap courthouses that will have a good 75+ turns pre communism at least, and factories if we get that far.

Actually, one other thing. A slight oversight is that diplo victory will be turned off so there will be no access to the AP. I really should read that post in more detail...

Monk is looking less viable now. Temples are 72 ham +100% hammers for us, monastaries are 54 ham.

Without the AP active and some more thinking, I feel the better use of the GE would be to take Notre and trying for the Kremlin now. (I'm assuming we will get a GE first as it will be the rep specialist and unless we caste we won't have much else to choose) what do you think?

Ack, I didn't know that banning diplo victories prevented you from building the AP. Its other uses aren't negligible, is it also the case that we can't build the UN for trade routes or forced civics?

What about using the first GE to bulb Gunpowder as a defensive option? Are corporations worth thinking about?

In PBEM74B, diplo victory is banned and greenline built the Apostolic Palace just fine... I'm sure there are other examples from other games, other people must have done monk economies in pitbosses.

It depends. There is either an informal rule to not win via diplo but leaving it on in the game thus allowing the builds. Or there can be the option checked on the game settings which makes them unbuildable. If you're global lurking pickle could you ask?

Well, an informal no-voting-someone-else-for-diplo-victory rule is easy to implement on this site. But yeah, this is a good sign, we're back on track.

It's probably a good rule to ban any resolutions in general, so you can't pull some cheese bullshit by sneaking AP unhappiness into someone else's cities.

Perhaps... I quite like the UN tbh. The AP stuff is a bit swingy though.

I mainly say all of this as I think with spi, the garentueed religion and probably a free run at the AP that this could be huge. Essentially about 30 raw hammers for a temple with spi/forge and about 45 for a monastery, it will have a rather quick payback. Then if we get just one of the other buildings (minaret is better IMO) we are laughing. Also it is very unlikely to help anyone else as we will all be running separate religions.

Agreed with all points. The worry is that someone else could make a run for it. Ghandi in particular, they'll definitely beat us to a great engineer, the hope is they make a run for Nat instead. Now that we've been talking about the AP in the tech thread, it's going to be on their minds as well.
