Okay, thanks anyway.
So yeah, we'll just aim to try to compete tech-wise with the Sunrises of the world (not an easy task), and keep an eye out for opportunities along the way. That's really pretty much all we can do. Space will be the default direction if nothing particularly out of the ordinary happens in all that time, though we'll keep the other options in mind too.
Gazzahk Wrote:Hi LP, no. 2 on the score board... You will become more and more popular...Heh, yeah... surprised it hasn't been mentioned already in the diplo thread actually. Sunrise does have such an alarming lead, though - with only a single wonder as far as I know (the Kong Miao), and the rest of his score from population and technology - that he's clearly the larger threat right now.
Gazzahk Wrote:Is it too early to have a specific plan to win, other than the broad brush of kill them all?Actually "kill them all" would be unlikely to work on a map as large as this one. Best strategy in this sort of environment is to carve out a decent chunk of land for yourself and hole up defensively while you build your economy. A few minor skirmishes to gain easy land are fine from time to time, but you really don't want to be dragged down into constant wars. Otherwise the Sunrises of the game just build up an insane tech lead and win over you almost by default.
Gazzahk Wrote:As this is a casual game, have you given any thought about how to casually win? An emphatic win would seem to go against the casual theme, so I was wondering how you might factor this aspect of the game set up into a win strategy? [this is a serious if maybe odd enquiry].Assuming the game doesn't end with a concession to military superiority like PB4, the next most likely victory is probably Space. Diplomatic victory is also plausible after the UN if folks are really keen to end things early (AP victory is probably impossible when religions are so hard to obtain and spread). Domination's possible but doubtful, as there's just too much land and too many civs to band together against you. There's an outside chance of cultural victory of course, although realistically I can't see it happening. Conquest is the main one I can't see happening at all (domination would almost certainly happen first).
