I'm our fisher. This is clearly the safest of jobs.

I can see that the caravan offers steel tools and weapons, but for now I want to rely on our own production. maybe we find iron ourselves later on.
So the caravan does not really offer anything interesting. I will trade for the animals and get rid of lots of our stone crafts. Meanwhile, Brian, one of our hunters returns his kill to the butcher. A 6.5 ton elephant! That will keep the food stock high! :D The problem is still Bigger, who is now really, really unhappy. Slowly the fortress adopts to the new rule. Then Serdoa gets possessed. Unfortunately this means he does not gain any skill update from this particular strange mood. Lets hope he finds everything he needs after claiming the craftsdwarf's workshop. Meanwhile, Mardoc, our adept cook, has created his first masterpiece: - Harmless, overseer in command.

Not really, since it involves venturing outside of the walls. I will assign a couple of dogs to you for security. - Harmless, overseer in command.

Am I reading it right if i'm reading that I'm part of the medical team, and handles planting stuff?
Let me make soap as well :D (December 10th, 2012, 16:11)Sian Wrote: Am I reading it right if i'm reading that I'm part of the medical team, and handles planting stuff?Yes, you are one of three dwarves that have a tiny bit of medical knowledge. And no, you are not planting stuff, but rather do stuff with harvested plants. We will need your skills eventually once we set up a pig tail clothing industry. Meanwhile, well done Serdoa: To valuable to be used as a weapon, although the artefact status adds a 3x modifier to its stats. Not sure how this affect crossbows though. It certainly us useless when the crossbow is used as a blunt weapon in a melee fight, since it made of bone. We should probably use it as part of a weapon trap, which counts as high value furniture. Think of it like a weapon on display. Maybe for the noble rooms later one. In other news, the dwarves refuse to bury Ichabod properly, although a coffin and engraved headstone were prepared. At the moment her body rots away on the corpse stockpile outside. - Harmless, overseer in command.

Kylearan has the bedroom furthest away from anything. Which is good, because he is not disturbed by noise while asleep (yes, noise is modelled in the game!) but to have his artefact door tugged away like that is not in the spirit of the community.
![]() I will exchange the door, so it becomes the entrance to our fortress. Since artefact doors cannot be knocked down, it will also increase security. But the main reason is, that, since a lot of dwarves use the front entrance, they will have the chance to admire the door a lot and get happy thoughts. In early spring Sian gives birth to a boy, named "Piet". Jkaen our only hunter for now is delighted that the elephant herds have migrated back into the area. Not only does she carry her baby Thermos with her, but also returns a 4.9ton dead elephant to the butcher! Helium has given birth to a girl, "Dicorion". I am also happy to report that every dwarf is happy, with the majority being ecstatic, especially the new mums. I secured the sides of the drawbridge with cage traps. An elephant promptly walked into it. Now, normally I love animal training but elephants, due to a bug are pretty useless , as they will starve to death, not being able to graze quick enough. So I will slaughter the beast. Mid-spring and Enoch has given birth to a boy, "Amelia". - Harmless, overseer in command.

Baby boom!
Novice has given birth to a boy, "FireandIce". And ... HidingKneel has given birth to a boy, "Ilios". Clearly the dwarves had too much time on their hands during Ichabod's rule! Brian is busy getting rid of all the excess shells and bones, by decorating whatever he can get his hands on with it. Harmless has forged 10 bronze battle axes, to equip the future axe squad. Late spring and the elven trade caravan is coming. I will try to trade for their animals carefully avoiding any wooden trade goods. Apart from that I improved the wall. The existin wooden stockade now acts as an elevated walkway for the guards and defenders, while a proper stone wall was created. Fortifications for archers to shoot through are carved at the moment. ![]() Will continue tomorrow. - Harmless, overseer in command.
