[SPOILERS] JR4 tries his luck in PB 37

Excellent! Your exploration plan with the galley and Chariot sounds good as well, assuming the latter isn't needed to help defend anything.

That stone island is intriguing; I'm glad we're going to get a galley out to explore (and eventually colonize) that area too.

The GG is surely Coeurva's: He's IMP and has been fighting heavily (appears to have [EDIT: razed] at least two cities). We're obviously doing well here, but Ventessel's land neighbors are going to have a lot of territory. Of course, we might end up with a lot of land ourselves when we're better able to absorb it than Coeurva is right now. Even so, here's hoping Ventessel can hold out for a long time, and tie up lots of Coeurva's forces (and commerce, with unit supply costs).

And a properly-updated version of the microplan, hopefully now without further mistakes:

T69: Muqa turns Avoid Growth ON to avoid growing into unhappiness - it should be exactly filling its food box to 34 this turn. Oghul Qaimish likewise turns Avoid Growth ON to store a little extra food in its granary (this indeed comes out slightly ahead of growing a turn sooner and working the mine) and begins a Galley. The Worker on the forest near Chubei begins a Chop, but then CANCELS orders. If no new threats have appeared, the Worker on Toregene's river grassland moves E-E-SE to the coastal silk and the Workers on the shared mine move SE to the just-vacated river grassland and begin a Cottage. Chubei is now size 3, but if it still lacks Buddhism, it WHIPS its Monument (3 pop to 2) and works Corn + grassland Cow; if Buddhism has spread to it, it instead resumes its Granary and works Corn + grasssland Cow + forest.
T70: Chariot is complete at Borte, which is now size 7 and begins a Settler, working Cow + Copper + Clam + Horse + Mine + floodplain Cottage + Oasis. Axeman is complete at Muqa, which begins a Galley turns Avoid Growth OFF, and works Corn + Cow + Fish + Sheep + Whale + Silver + Mine. Toregene begins a Library(?) and works Rice + Furs + shared Cottage. Oghul Qaimish turns Avoid Growth OFF. The Workers on Toregene's river grassland complete a Cottage. The Worker on the Silk begins a road, but then CANCELS orders. The Worker on Chubei's forest moves 1S to the silver and helps the other Worker there complete the Mine. Chubei works grassland Cow + Silver; if it is size 3 (because a Buddhism spread saved it from whipping a Monument earlier) it also works the forest.
T71: Muqa is now size 8 but WHIPS its Galley (8 pop to 6) and works Corn + Cow + Fish + Sheep + Whales + Silver. Toregene is now size 4 and works Rice + Furs + both Cottages. Oghul Qaimish is now size 2 and [EDIT: resumes its Workboat, working Sheep + Mine]. The Workers on the cottage near Toregene move NW-NW-SW to the part-farmed grassland, continue the Farm, and CANCEL orders. (They'll finish it later too, so maybe I can come up with a use for it someday, until it turns out there's an Iron there or something.) The Worker on the Silk moves 1SE to the jungled Horse. If Chubei is still at size 2, the Workers on its Silver both move 1N and finish a Chop. If Chubei is size 3, its Workers are available for other duties (TBD) but it WHIPS its Granary (3 pop to 2). Either way, it works grassland Cow + Silver.
T72: Galley is complete at Muqa, which is now size 7 and begins a Workboat, working Cow + Fish + Sheep + Whales + Silver + Mine + Forest. Granary is complete at Chubei, which begins a unit? (TBD) and works Corn + grassland Cow. Oghul Qaimish pops borders to second ring; the Workers on the random grassland tile nearby move W-NW to the Horse and begin a Pasture. The Worker on the jungled Horse begins a Road. Borte WHIPS its Settler (7 pop to 5) and works Cow + Copper + Clam + Horse + floodplain Cottage.
T73: Settler is complete at Borte, which begins a Library(?). Workboat is complete at Muqa, which resumes its Settler. Oghul Qaimish is now size 3 and works Sheep + Horse + Mine. Toregene's borders expand to second ring. The Workers on Oghul Qaimish's Horse complete a Pasture. The Worker on the jungled Horse completes a Road. The Settler moves 2SE to the Furs.
T74: Workboat is complete at Oghul Qaimish, which resumes its Galley; the Workboat moves to the Fish. Muqa begins an Axeman(?) and works Corn + Fish + Sheep + Whales + Silver + Mine + Forest. Chubei is now size 3 and works Cow + Cow + Silver. Borte is now size 6 and works Cow + Copper + Clam + Rice + Horse + floodplain Cottage. Toregene is now size 5 and resumes its Worker, working Furs + Mine + both Cottages + Forest (either one). The Workers on Oghul Qaimish's Horse move SE-E and complete a Farm. The Worker on the jungled Horse moves 1SW to the Ivory. The Settler moves 2SE to the coastal Silk.
T75: Muqa is now size 8 (and unhappy) but resumes and WHIPS its Settler (8 pop to 5) and works Cow + Fish + Sheep + Whales + Silver. The Workboat near Oghul Qaimish Nets the Fish. Oghul Qaimish works Sheep + Fish + Horse. Chubei works Corn + grassland Cow + Silver. The Workers on the random farm move NE-N to a river grassland in Borte's first ring and begin a Cottage. The Worker on the Ivory begins a Road. The Settler moves SE-SW to the Ivory.
T76: Settler is complete at Muqa, which begins a Worker. Worker is complete at Toregene, which resumes its Library(?) and works Rice + Furs + Mine + both Cottages. Borte is now size 7; the Workers on its first-ring river grassland complete a Cottage, and it works Cow + Copper + Clam + Horse + Oasis + both unshared Cottages. Oghul Qaimish is now size 4 and works Fish + Sheep + Horse + Mine. The new Worker moves E-SE to the coastal Silk. The Worker on the Ivory completes a Road. The Settler on the Ivory moves 1SW to the site of Nambui. The new Settler boards the Galley?
T77: Worker is complete at Muqa, which begins a Library? and works Corn + Fish + Sheep + Whales + Silver. Oghul Qaimish WHIPS its Galley (4 pop to 3) and works Fish + Sheep + Horse. Chubei is now size 4 and works Cow + Cow + Silver + Forest? The Worker on the Ivory WAITS while the Settler in the jungle founds the city of Nambui, which begins a Granary, working the Cow; then the Worker moves SW-S through the city to the Cow and begins a Pasture. The Worker on the Silk completes a Road.

Agreed. Ventessel holding out for a bit longer is vital. But surely it can`t be too long as Couerva has 6 cities compared to Ventessel`s only one. I think Krill and the other players will be much more worried about him than us so I`m hoping to stay under the radar for a while (though it`s going to be hard to disguise our excellent demos).

I`m on vacation now and will probably play the turns a bit later in the day. It`d be good if Ventessel could play his turn soon so that I can play turn 69 before going to bed.

Another reason to get galleys and/or exploring workboats out: To get a clearer sense for what's actually happening in the outside world. I actually can't tell if Coeurva's doing well right now or just opening up some new land for himself at the expense of falling behind with ancient military.

Also, I looked at civstats and ... we have the highest score in the game. Higher than Gavagai in spite of his land points from early Creative borders. Way higher than CML in spite of his world wonder. Higher than Dark Savant in spite of his rapid early expansion and a big increase he got this turn. Score - even more so than demos - can always be deceiving, and our lead isn't exactly world-shaking, but ... we seem to be doing pretty well so far in this game!

Most important of all: Enjoy your vacation!

TURN 69

Joy offered  a map exchange. I declined for now, really unsure of whether to reveal our lands to him is a good idea. We would, of course, get a much better overview of Joey`s lands (and find out who his neighbor is). Should we reoffer the deal?

Otherwise it was a quiet turn. Our chariot didn`t find more resources in the NW. I tried to make a dot map of the area. In my version we would orphan a coast tile west of Borte but it`s acceptable imo.

The spear and the worker are now on the coastal silk. Fortunately no more barbs in sight so I think we`re quite safe for now. When the two units move away from the silk there are a few turns when a barb could spawn on the forest E of Toregene. Let`s hope we expand borders before that happens.

Graphs and demos: Yes, we`re leading PB 37 right now in score! The demos still look good but we were pushed back to second place in food and mfg.

Hmmmmmm. I'd be tempted to offer map trades to both GermanJoey and dtay, just to see what more of the world looks like. I think I'd start with dtay for sure.

The only real reason not to offer GJ a map trade is that I suspect he hasn't scouted much beyond his cities in our direction: For instance, he probably doesn't know where our Ivory is located. (That, and there's a chance dtay has unfogged most or all of GJ's land already with that scout that snuck past us eons ago. The Scout probably didn't get far though: It was already injured, happily ending turns on flatland, and probably pursuing circumnav, which dtay failed to land.)

Diplomatically, refusing to trade maps with GJ says, "We don't want you to see our land," which implies we think of him as a potential enemy. Re-offering says, "We aren't sure we trust you, but we decided this will help us as much as it helps you."

Hmm, also: I think Oghul Qaimish should be starting a Galley now (since it's not making enough hammers per turn to get the Exp bonus on a Work Boat) - it will switch back to a WB in a couple of turns though - or did I miss something?

Oh, I changed the build to a galley after the screenshot was taken. I`ll keep trying to double check the micro so that we follow the plan. Taking the screenshots at the end of turn is surely a good idea. That`s noted.

Map exchange offered to dtay and Joey. Joey will surely accept and dtay will most likely do the same. Hopefully we won`t give away any critical information here. Getting to know what the outside world looks like at an early stage sounds like a good plan. Let`s see how the map looks on turn 70!

TURN 70

A big turn in the history of the Khatunate Empire. Both our neighbors accepted the map trade. A lot of information was revealed. Some good things - and some pretty bad stuff. Let`s start with the good news. There are more interesting tiles right next to our planned jungle city. Take a look at this:

Not bad, not bad at all! I moved the axe completed in Muqa this turn SW toward Borte. It`s probably going to join the spear in the jungle city. The chariot moved from Borte closer to Muqa in order to board the galley once it`s finished.

Dtay settled NE with his second city as expected. It`s a really strong city, quite similar to Muqa. I also took a screenshot of the dtay area close to our N-NW. No enemy borders were spotted but as dtay was double moved by CML I`m pretty confident that he`s his northern neighbor. Btw: There is a barb city to dtay`s east, claiming most of the resources out there. We won`t get it.

Then let`s have a look at Joey`s lands. We already knew that he`s settled up on us. He`s also got pretty similar quality land as us (a little more because of his aggressive plant toward us).  Heavenly Star is situated 5SW of his capital and looks pretty much like a fortress to me. And worse: 7S of that city I spotted chinese borders. Ventessel is probably Joey`s neighbor. Well, it`s not bad in the sense that we`re going to be attacked soon but it`ll give Joey a chance to secure a ridiculous amount of land (maybe even peacefully).

Lastly, is there anything in particular you want me to take a screenshot of?

Graphs and demos:

We`re now top in soldiers! Maybe it`l scare Joey and dtay a bit in the coming turns. Shared 1st in gnp while saving gold is good as well.
