I hope I didn't make a bad post in the main Spulllarise thread...

Ugh just edit the thing out there's still time.

Edits within ~15min don't show up. Just hope Sulla doesn't have auto-emailing.

Not sure if it needs to be edited out tbh, it seems for me like a game-mechanics (read: how does F8 work in team-games) clarification. We would not ask anyone to edit out anything that only explains a game-mechanic that was misunderstood if it wouldn't be Sullla, would we? I mean sure, that takes away much of Team 2 chances, but we are not here to ensure they have a chance or to keep someone deliberately in the dark about a game mechanic, when he obviously misunderstood it. If we have a new player here who does not whip ever because he thinks that the unhappiness stays forever, we would correct him. And if someone would state "he can't win culture soon, he is missing 10000 culture still everywhere" we wouldn't feel wronged telling him that you can culture-bomb cities. Heck, I've read real spoilers around here more then once - but when it comes to Sullla, we should not even correct a clearly misunderstood game-mechanic? Doesn't feel right for me.

Agreed with Serdoa, that's technically OK.

UNLESS you read it in someone else's thread in this game, or the lurker thread. In that case... oops.

I will also note that I believe Spullla prefer not to be given unsolicited advice, and that's absolutely worth respecting.

Yes he does. He subscriped to a tech-thread in PB2 so he probably did to his own thread.

The above post logined off not knowing he can edit posts. It is a race on who checks in first. I'm 90% spulla is gonna win.

I think T-hawk should edit the post if he gets in before sullla as that is what the above poster would have wanted.

Sevenspirts&Serdoa I think there is a 90% chance that the above poster read it somewhere in this thread or another team. So your posts are strange... I don't really care much about when it is okay to tell spulla the F8 issue because team 3 would haven take out team 2 anyway. This actually makes it harder for spulla. But team 2 won't be happy about this because they won't even get a hope spot.

Well he logined back in. lol I think there are two ideas for him
1. He did not read it in this thread or some other thread. In this case he can just do whatever he wants.
2. He did read it. This is a spoiler under the rules and should be edited out--explaining that you broke the rules.

Well, I just edited it out. I learned that thing with team Culture win comes from an RB adventure game. One of them.

Um, I don't think RB adventure games count as spoilers. Otherwise I am not allowed to answer any kind of game-mechanic question because probably 90% of what I know of game-mechanics related to civ4 I read somewhere on RB.

Btw: I also can't remember since when it is a spoiler to answer a game-mechanic question no matter where you read the answer. I assume people are here to play and have fun and win because of their superior skill, not because they know a game-mechanic quirk and their opponent doesn't. Of course it is not ok to go into a thread and state without any input from the threads owner "Oh hey, do you know that the F8-screen won't work in team games for culture victories?" but if - like in this case - Sullla is stating "they can't go culture, the F8-screen would show it" I believe it is fine to tell him that he is wrong on this GAME mechanic, as the F8-screen won't work as one is used to it. Again, of course one cannot state "You only don't see it, but they go for a culture victory"! But that was never done, he was simply corrected on a game-mechanics misunderstanding.

Lastly: I'd be happy if something like what was posted here would be the most "spoilerish" thing posted in the PBEMs we have going. Though looking at FFH18 ...

edit: As further explanation what I mean

Sullla Wrote:Last I checked, their #2 and #3 cities were at like 1000 culture

He talks about the F8-screen and I think it is obvious that he assumes that their (as in their team) cultural cities will be shown there. He is not expecting that despite the CV taking into account all 3 civs it is only showing the most cultured cities of one of those 3 civs, no matter if other cities from that team have much more culture. And ssmagus only explained him that only one civs cities are shown there, not the most cultured cities of all 3 civs. I really can't see how that qualifies for "spoiler".

Anything that makes its way from one thread to another in the same game is a spoiler. Otherwise why would players post about their plans if doing so can help their opponents?

Stop legaling. The reason we shouldn't post about it in Spulla's thread is because we KNOW team 2 are going for a cultural victory. So its none of our damned business to help anyone else out in terms of that. This is not the same as someone whipping or not and we all damned well know that - this is Team 2's whole game, which they've committed months to. Its not a matter of whether its technically correct or not, its a matter of whether its necessary or not, and it isn't.

Team 2 is not going to win this game. Either Team 1 or Team 3 is going to swallow them well before their cultural victory attempt comes off. But wouldn't you rather that happened organically than anything we possibly said having any impact? It'll make the game more interesting for the participants that way and by extension, more exciting for us lurkers. And then after the CV attempt fails you can all go jump in T1s thread and explain to them why they hadn't noticed it yet and oh how smart we can all feel by explaining an odd game mechanic to Sulla.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?
