Pitboss 18 Lurker Thread of Infinite Wisdom

If you don't know what Commodore's referring to, you're probably being wise and avoiding reading flamewars. In which case...no need to start!

While it's obviously not possible for him to cheat as he doesn't have control--just for fun... The odds are about 0.01% which is much greater than what I calculated for SANTCA. Also, SANTCA was from the entire game (except for a couple of Barbs) while this is just one combat which happens much more than an entire game so there's many more chances of getting (un)lucky. Lastly, I'm pretty sure that the 'persevere random seed' is set to OFF making cheating impossible unless you crash the game or hack the pitboss host.
That's very streaky through and grounds for questioning Civ4's combat model and the PRNG being "nice". You would have to go worldbuilder things to prove the spreadsheet right by showing the combat model and PRNG aren't messing things up. Things didn't come to that in that game were the Mods didn't consider that the odds might be so high as to not happen ever (as seven put it) and looked to find other evidence--they didn't.
Poor Dtay. I have to say, my favourite maliicious pleasure in lurking these games is seeing how long it takes a player to report after we know they've just been knifed. The sudden silence says it all really.
I think Dtay can probably recover from this and still clinch the game if its just Pindicator and Old Tourist laying into him. If Krovice attack as well, we might be seeing the elusive successful dogpile in action.
BGN isn't all that behind in any case...
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.
I write RPG adventures, and blog about it, check it out.
If I could pick one player likely to take the dogpile well and still report while fighting, it'd be dtay. He proved his mettle in 13, and here his toys are the ones with an edge.
Kudos to dtay, and Fin for diverging from the overcautious meta! (December 11th, 2014, 14:43)Commodore Wrote: BGN isn't all that behind in any case... BGN has stated he is not doing much more than playing turn by turn due to irl busyness. Were that NOT true, he.d already be challenging dtay, maybe closely enough to dissuade FinHarry from their first strike! As it is, and as always... Combine that with, Quote:Dtay played and burned two cities,, and he ought to have a good battlefield to defend on. And then Cav + rifle should do pretty well against Knights + chos. With that tech lead, I wouldn't be terribly surprised if his foothold can produce enough to at least maintain stalemate with Pindi while his core focuses on his other problems. They might be able to drag him back to the pack, but I don't see him being out of the running. Depends on Krovice, and also on how much FinHarry are willing to invest. Apparently TBS won't be getting involved - or at least he has no plans to. I'm more amused by TBS' assumption that the great general births were FinHarry related, rather than Pindicator-related. I mean, it's logical, given the timing, but it's also wrong .

This game is way more better then my expectations, this is one of the reasons i play the turns for dazed, cause i ike the game, i would not say for example TBs is completly out of run,and i like they keep playing. He will conquer all dazed land as nothing can be done to stope that, not enought time to get units, no barcks builded, draft will be to late, cats have been wasted before instead of keeping them.So in like 10 turns he will have all dazed land nothing can be done to stop that.

Seems like a one-chance missed opportunity to damage the runaway... with Pindicator's hindu shrine conquered, you are the best logical target for dtay. As soon as he gets peace from Harry dtays rifles will mass on your border. Why not do some actual damage (even if only to dtay's economy) while you have your only chance? Also, does Plako have a reasonable army now unencumbered by Xenu? No word from him in a while... So much popcorn! |
