I think he means that he uses cellphone as a modem. Civ-supporting cellphone would be something I'd love to buy, though.

I'd assume so too, but I have remote-controlled my computer with my cell for a very early turn.

Yeah, I have an issue joining as well. I got stuck on the "Finishing" and now an image of me is trapped on the server.

Got to run in just a few minutes any idea what's the best way to get out without crashing the game?
Pressing esc I can actually get the normal window open for exiting the normal way, so the game is able to take commands, but nothing happens after I've confirmed that "I'm sure" that I want to leave the game.

Edit:
Got out now at least. Everything could well be back to normal, but don't have the time to check it out.

Yup, same. Civstats shows we're both out of the game now though, so it looks like its fine. Maybe some kind of issue with logging in at the exact same second lol

Ah, that kinda thing would happen sometimes in PB18 too. I think its just bad news if two (or more) people are trying to load the game (in contrast to just downloading the save) at the same time, and with a huge map it does take awhile to load the game.

I have done a save/reload of the game just in case. Let me know if you are still having issues.

Sadly, it doesn't improve my situation at all shakehead. I don't know even, why it happend. Nothing changed in my computer or network.

PS Everything is working fine until "nation choosing" screen. Same thing is happening later - empty screen as I show earlier.

I think the problem is that the packet with all the civs is too long, causing it to be broken into multiple pieces, and some ISPs and/or firewalls don't like that--I remember seeing it somewhere (maybe on this forum, maybe somewhere else), and I remember shortening all the civ names fixed it. If nothing's changed on your end, maybe civs getting eliminated added to the packet size and pushed it past a threshold?
