RB Pitboss #3 [SPOILERS]- Suryavarman II of England

OK, logged in and had a look around. A couple thoughts:

- Wow, do we need more happy cap. frown Good thing this should improve soon.

- Conan took a bit more damage than I would have hoped, given the odds for his fight. frown He has 2 XP now and can promote next turn -- do we want to promote and heal, promote and chase the bear, or heal without promoting? The bear is right around 2.0 strength (was 66/100 HP) assuming it does not promote from eating poor RG.

- AF is looking very good. smile We just need it larger, so it can work all those nice tiles and the cottages. Soon, very soon.

- BR is progressing nicely, and will look better once those furs are hooked up. We will need some cottages here, but that will have to wait as the workers will be heading for our new copper city. (What are we going to call it?) Need some more roads to link up to the copper city soon.

- London is also looking very good, just needs more happy cap to work all the nice tiles. All these civs with gold for early happiness, and we are not one of them. frown

East of Drunken Pigs, I do not agree with the sign for the cows city. The FP is needed for the sugar city to have semi-decent food, so I do not think we want to poach that. Especially where there is that nice corn to the north. Who knows what the situation will be by the time we want to settle this, but I think a corn/cows city would be much preferred to sharing that one FP.

Overall we are in pretty good shape. smile Just need to get the tech pipeline flowing and things will be looking very nice.

Kyan Wrote:Greetings Lords of Avalon,

Firstly, thank you very much for passing on our request. We can live in hope, no?

Whilst i appreciate the directions you have given, we both know that number of tiles doesn't necessarily constitute the most fair distribution of land. A lot depends on the quality of said land and the distribution of resources.
I mentioned previously a screenshot of the middle ground between our two lands. I would of course expect you to black out anything relating to your cities and research, unit distribution and the like. We have no interest in such things, we just need to know what land we are agreeing to split before we split it.

I'm not suggesting that you are proposing anything unfair but we would appreciate this picture before we put pen to paper as such. All the other terms are fine by us and we're happy to have the NAP either linked or seperate- it makes no real difference to us.

Your friends,

Kyan
Kysit's Periwinkles

They're right, we should send a screenshot. ASM, can you prep that and send it tonight?
That makes it a lot harder to get a good deal, since we're basically grabbing all of the resources. Re: Hap: I think what you think is corn is really sugar. Still, if we have to give up the cow, that's tolerable. The quality of this map's land is fairly low, especially given how little there is of it. Gibraltar and DP are non-negotiable, though: we're settling 1 tile outside our culture!

Let's sign the NAP, that's what I'm worried about getting soon.

Kyan stated they are willing to take the NAP, linked to the settlement deal or not. Should we go ahead and accept that? And work on the settlement stuff as we continue? As you say, DP and Gibraltar are non-negotiable for us. If they want to dispute the cow that is fine -- we are unlikely to settle there for a long time anyway, and if they beat us to it then they do.

We are now the last team for this turn.

I'm a little busy today. I need to finish up a paper. Would either of you mind doing it?

OK, finally rolled the turn. Add one to our tally in Krill's "last team" list.

T61 demos:

London grew, so we see a nice jump in the population category. Not much else jumps out at me right now. Minor shifts here and there.

Richard continued NW, looking to meet Egypt. He found someone else first, though:

We are on a forested hill, so the barb warrior should be minimal trouble. Should be....

Note also the Carthaginian gold. Does everyone on this map have gold but us? We still have dark areas on our map, but copper and now gold...what is going on?

To the east, The Unready One checked out the border with France and found something surprising:

Note the jungle on the tile 3E of TUO -- with 3-ring borders, this must be the French capital! yikes Only 13E of London...did France move west before settling? In any case, this puts the copper site very close to them; almost first ring, in fact. frown We may have to fight for it, if we want it. And I think we do want it -- metal, plus it is a very strong site with copper, sheep, spices, river.

Note that France's warrior went NW, and is now 2NW of The Unready One. They will see the copper next turn, if they do not already know it is there. Not good.

In the southeast Gulliver was still slightly wounded, so I set him to heal this turn in the forest. No good forest tile to move to, so let's get him to full strength just in case.

In the southwest I promoted Conan to Flanking I as discussed, and then moved him to the desert hill. Next turn we can check for that bear, and maybe kill it the turn after for another XP. Or we can heal first (2 turns needed) if preferred.

Micro was as discussed. London grew and is now working its first cottage. AF finished the barracks, granary will be completed by overflow this coming turn. Switched back to the wheat for max growth. BR will grow this coming turn, we will chop the 2 forests into the settler and switch back to growth for an eventual 2-pop whip of the settler.

Only open issue was our worker south of AF. I moved him to the forested plains hill next to the city to start chopping next turn. The hammers can go into (hopefully) a library and we need to clear defensive tiles around our cities anyway.

Some diplo stuff to take care of....

First, a response to France and their general greetings. Nothing very specific was said, so we will just be generally friendly. Proposed:

Quote:Greetings from the Lords of Avalon to the Rulers of mighty France!

We recieved your message after our warrior The Unready One met your unit in the wilderness, and now we have seen your borders. It is always good to meet a new civilization, and hopefully new friends. Especially when we already have mutual friends.

We look forward to a peaceful and prosperous relationship between our great peoples.

Not sure if we want to mention more, either about the cartel or about land and resources? This is just a general friendly response to let them know we got their greeting.

Second item: do we let others know we have (apparently) found the French capital? HRE and Babylon would be most likely to want to know, assuming they do not already have this information. Thoughts?

Third item, a screenshot showing the land between us and Mali/Babylon, as part of our NAP and settlement negotiations. Here is what I produced, let me know if you think we are revealing too much/too little.

Our points:

- Gibraltar and DP are first ring to our capital, their BFCs will be adjacent to (or even overlapping) London's.
- Our proposed cities are all 9N of Genesis, 8N of Exodus, while being similar distances from London. We are not crowding their established cities or pushing into their land.
- For the Malinese, we do not plan to settle close to Uberfish, but further north. We do not intend to claim the land directly north of Uberfish, but would not like to see a city which tried to claim our silks.

A note: that sign for Uberfish is incorrect. From the culture on the tile 2E1S of it, Uberfish must be 2S of the sign, not 1S. They could put a city on the hill where our chariot is now, without overlapping Uberfish. No resources there, but some FP and plenty of nice river tiles.

So for Babylon, proposed text:

Quote:Greetings to Kysit's Periwinkles from the Lords of Avalon!

We are glad that the extended NAP terms and other non-settlement terms are acceptable. Shall we consider those agreed to, and we can continue working on a settlement deal?

As requested, please find attached an overview of the territory being discussed. You can see the culture of our capital in the top center; it is a little difficult to see due to the color. (A drawback we did not consider when choosing England.) Our proposed sites of Gibraltar and Drunken Pigs are marked. A tentative sign for another city further east with the grass cows is also marked, although that may be affected by negotiations with France. We have located their capital this turn to the east, and they are closer than we expected.

Please note that all our proposed sites are 8N of Exodus, 9N of Genesis if we correctly understand your capital's location. We certainly do not intend to crowd your first ring cities. In fact, Gibraltar and Drunken Pigs are our first ring, and their BFCs will be adjacent to (or even overlapping) London's BFC.

Please let us know your thoughts on the proposed locations.

Thoughts and comments? Suggestions?

What should we send to Mali? We would like to get the NAP extension, EP limits, Open Borders plans for the future, etc. worked our with them if possible. But I do not think we have seen any response to the message Cynerheard sent. Do we send them the screenie, similar to what we have above for Babylon? Or maybe a simpler message, asking what they think of the proposed terms?

This sounds good. What do you think of asking them if that's their capitol or something?

We could. Maybe throw in a line about being surprised to find them so far west?

But that pretty much has to be their capital. If it was a city with 2-ring borders the center tile would be city, not jungle. Of course, with the hills and forest I am not sure why we can see any of that tile. It is just fog-gazing, but that sure looks like jungle.

OK, a modification for the proposed message to France:

We were a bit surprised to see third-ring borders so far west, although you did settle on turn 2. What led you to move your capital, if we may ask?

We look forward to a peaceful and prosperous relationship between our great peoples.

And it looks like we need a message to HRE. Proposed text:

Quote:To the Principality of DIM,

We found French borders this turn, and were rather surprised to see what appears to be third-ring culture. Were you aware that France's capital was this far west? They are uncomfortably close to the copper site.

Any fresh word from Krill or others on the tech plans?

Can you add "We found French borders this turn, and were rather surprised to see what appears to be third-ring culture just a few tiles away from the copper site" ?
