Yeah I'd seen the game before but actually getting the chance to play these sacrifices in a live game is fun.

Yes, of course. I think that's the point of looking at mating patterns: It would be very hard to find this mate in 6 idea in a 5+2 blitz game. But if you have seen the idea before you just need to check if it works and end up with a brilliant win.

An interesting pawn endgame: White to move

a) White wins with 1. Kxg7

b) White wins with 1. Kg6

c) White can win but needs to find another move

d) The position is a draw

Using the process of elimination; the right move is 1. Ke6. After black pushes the pawn the king can take it back while blocking the black king. After this trick white's position is so strong that he does not even need zugzwang in order to win which is nice.

That's correct. 1.Ke6! is the only move that leads to a win. Most people would just grab the free g7-pawn without thinking, but that would be a terrible mistake of course. It shows that even super simple endgames can be tricky.
