Overly violent behavior is a much, much worse blight on the game than diving but in the English media a foreign player diving gets a thousand articles written whereas an English player breaking someones leg with a reckless and dangerous tackle gets a thousand articles written apologizing for him. Only one of those two actions ends someones career, though. I didn't intend to equate the two Gaspar - as the shortest guy on my team I wish the clampdown on dangerous tackling (which has come a long way) had got down as far as pub football. Right now violent play is dealt with by the ref unless he misses it in which case video evidence occasionally gets used. Conning the ref by definition can't be dealt with by the ref, so retrospective punishment is the only solution I see. Cheating is a waaaaay less important problem than setting out to injure people, but surely you think it is a problem? Edit: Also you shouldn't listen to the English media about anything.

I have been meaning to mention that one bright point about England not reaching the knockout phase ... they won't fail to progress due to a penalty shoot-out.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

@Harry - yes, certainly I would like to see diving go away. I'd also like to see faking injuries to waste time and about a dozen other things go away. I was going to say fat chance, but this world cup at least has resolved one of my pet peeves - the 6-yard away wall on free kicks - so maybe shaving cream can solve everything.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?
Yes, spray the divers in the face with cream that cannot be removed until after the game.
