[Spoilers] Fintourist and Old Harry have nothing to see here

Great! We're just getting to the point in the game when you'll be really useful - you've had a lot more MP-warfare experience than me in just PBEM46! (By the way, did you notice that I followed your don't attack out advice with Gillette with good results?)

<Confused> I don't remember giving that advice, unless you meant my much-berated tactics post in 46. In any case, I did forget to say "good job!" bow thumbsup

Not sure what to say about slow. He looks just close enough for us to worry an attack might be possible, but too far for it probably to look practical from his end, especially with Icky right next to him like that.

That's the one. Of course the attacking over a river made it harder too!

Hmmm, and Greece get phalanx instead of spears, so they're totally screwed against Keshiks. Poor Ichabod.

No, he's fine; it replaces axeman, so he still gets spears.

I'm glad that post was useful to someone. smile Obviously it's situational.

Couple of quick (slightly wasted) comments:
- that barb warrior has so bad odds against our bowman that we probably have to expect that it moves N. I don't think we get enough overflow from granary whip that we can finish a 2nd bowman if needed?
- I think there is culture from dtay in that screenshot with our work boat... mischief
- Awesome to have you Hydra still here with us!
- Our demos look solid. Only worrying thing is that whoever is the rival best in GNP has a lot better economy than we do. Let's hope that such a strong starting position did not come with lots of peaceful land for expansion as well. (I totally expected us to have a worse rank in GNP at this point in game, but if we put research on we are looking quite good compared to most of our opponents) smoke
- It was probably a typo, but just in case: it wasn't 2x new GS that were born, but 1xGS and 1xGG

EDIT: I'm not afraid at all about an attack from slowcheetah. The only reason, why I think we might not want to show ourselves is that maybe it causes him to expand slower towards us.

I promise I wasn't drunk!

I think the gnp leader most likely has religion and oracle or stonehenge inflating that gnp. Or is researching writing. or both.

After you hid that silver in the hill there for us? Of course! He's a pretty tough mutha too... BTW if we pop any more resources you're getting more units. wink

Speaking of tough, Mardoc won his 99.94% battle.

And NE of the cursor is a city belonging to ancient-era-warfare's dtay. I really want to send the selected bowman N-NE to investigate the land between us, to see if we need to be expanding this way too... There are no resources that I can see though, so hopefully it's not high priority land and we won't come to blows over it. hippy

I'll play the turn tomorrow, things to do include whipping the axe in Dunkirk, the granary in France and saying hi to Slowcheetah.

Turn 87

This island isn't that attractive, other than for the incense. So I don't see us settling there any time soon. I assigned all our EPs to Slowcheetah - he hasn't played yet, so he might notice and return the favour.

Whipping the axe in Dunkirk and working the copper means we can then complete Bowmen eot88 and eot89, allowing us to settle Hastings with three bowmen and an axe. It also frees up a second worker to help improve Hastings, meaning we don't have to show our hand until t91. The new worker micro here is for A & B to:
T88 complete the plains cottage
T89 put two chops into the banana
T90 put two chops into the jungle E of Dunkirk
T91 complete the road to Hastings for the settling party to use. We'll put two bowmen on the site of the city and a bowman and axe to cover the workers.
The two bowmen need to sit on the cows on T90, so Suttree might spot them if his axe is on that hill again.

On settling Hastings you had the worker building a farm - I'll get them both to do that, so it'll be available earlier.

Whipping the granary in France means the barracks will complete eot91, so we'll get the whales T102. Am I right in thinking it'll store 10 food?

As the scouting enthusiast I've decided we're getting enough units over the next few turns down in Dunkirk so in a desperate display of lurker-pandering Merovech will cover the forest-chopping workers while YossarianLives sets out into the unknown to uncover the land dtay claims as his own...

The overview is nearly too big for my screen now. Note the mostly_harmless work boat. He keeps putting EPs into us - we're at 118/71 now - but it'll be a long time before he gets city visibility. If he declares to enter our land he can uncover Cannae and Bay of Pigs before we can kill it with our galley. Except that we need to play first for the galley to get there in time, which we haven't been doing, so m_h can probably get to Agincourt and Endor too. If we abandon Lunch and move the galley an extra tile this turn we can kill the work boat after it uncovers Bay of Pigs, although Lunch has uncovered most of that island, so I don't like that either. Any thoughts?

Power - we're winning!

Demos - they aren't looking so healthy with those two whips...

I wouldn't mind settling that desert hill. We don't have too many sites with two food resources. But yeah, that's not our biggest priority in this game.

I approve and like the updated worker micro. smile Getting two workers to support Hastings + city J was also on my list of things to suggest later!

I'm actually not 100 % sure, but still pretty sure that we get less.. Not the worst timing ever though and the best that we could achieve!

Quote:As the scouting enthusiast...

I tolerate your scouting enthusiasm... lol ...as long as you don't crash our economy with unit costs (do you think that we still get currency eot93?) and we don't get burned when we settle H & I, you are my scouting hero!

Quote:Note the mostly_harmless work boat.

I'm pretty fine with him declaring and entering. It's not like he can pillage our fishing nets. However if he spends a turn denying us the fishing tile we will sink his WB and hate him for the entire game! mischief Or do you want to sink it anyways? I admit that I don't like giving him too much scouting info either.. Anyways, let's not leave lunch on the islans! It's possible that m_h won't enter our borders or he declares and goes west at the fist possible and we can't kill the wb unless we are smoke and whip a galley to do that..

Quote:Power - we're winning!

Noooo! If we have more power than our neighbors this isn't a true farmers gambit! mischief

Btw, I cancelled our worker actions. It was 99.99 % useless, but you never know..
