[SPOILERS] JR4 tries his luck in PB 37

Sounds great! Thanks for considering my last-minute suggestions (and correcting me when one of them is incorrect) and providing such thorough reporting that it's possible for dedicated lurkers like me and shallow_thought (as well as the general lurkers who stop in) to understand what the empire is doing in this much detail!

I agree about the island city, and definitely about finding out more about our sea neighbors. In theory, we should border everybody by land or sea, but some will be closer than others, and finding out where they all are will be important. For example, we'll be competing with dtay = Zulu and with China's southern land neighbor (Carthage = Couerva?) for islands to our northwest. (We would also have been competing wth China ... were China still competing for much of anything.)

Is Nambui building a Monument now?

Another note, relevant for the new turn:  If we want Oghul Qaimish to build its library as fast as possible, it should work its best food tiles from here (it now being T78).  So Fish + Sheep + Horse + grassland Farm, then growing onto its lake T80 (unless we get a river cottage or another farm in time, which we probably won't, especially since we'd only work it for a single turn in the immediate future) and then whipping the library 6 -> 3 on turn 81.

TURN 78

I was first to play the turn. Another big turn in the history of the Khatunate. The island city was founded this turn and revealed a lot of interesting things. Look at that. The eastern islands are certainly a priority for us now. Btw, which page is the future names on? I`ll rename it next turn.

The galley built in Oghul Qaimish moved toward the stone island. After moving it I realized that the chariot could have joined it. Oh well, too late. The axe under training in Muqa should just about be able to reach the island city on turn 81.

The new city actually improved our economy! At 70 % we were able to 1 turn Mathematics with 18 gold left (-18). Going down to 0 gold was a bit too close for my liking so I switched Borte`s mine for the oasis. It`ll give us a cushion of one gold. We have the option of chopping a forest to Borte (t79) and Muqa (t80).

There was a misunderstanding regarding Nambui as I started a granary last turn. It now works on a monument. Would it be better to work the grass cow instead?
EDIT: I let Chubei start a barracks but it could 1 turn a worker or 6 turn a settler instead.

Name list is at the post linked here - the island city can be Kokejin.

No worries on the granary over the monument; I think it'll mean a slight delay in completing the monument, but nothing severe. Working the plains cow is still better for now, I believe, but I'll think about it a little more and see if there's another way to make everything line up.

Graphs and demos. We now have Dark Savant`s graphs! It`s very interesting to compare with us (and our neighbors). He seems to have built  an awful lot of units. We don`t want to provoke him needlessly. He seems to be doing well especially on production and food.

Our own numbers increased a lot when we built our 7th city. We`re not far off from the leaders anywhere. Our production will look a lot better once we work Borte/Toregene`s mine and Oghul Qaimish`s mine.

Kokejin! That`s the one. It`s getting harder to remember the names of the new cities. Thanks for posting the link.

Okay, going for an early monument in Nambui makes a lot of sense. We`ll want to expand the borders asap no matter what. The extra clam is indeed very helpful in getting the city up to speed. It`ll be a wonderful city down the line. Maybe it should invest in an early lighthouse (after the monument and granary)? Joey has a lighthouse in his second city for quite some time. It seems to pay off well for him.

I quite agree!  So the question on Nambui:  Can the rest of our cities afford a three-turn delay (to T84) in getting Ivory connected?

- Borte is probably triple-whipping a Settler on T81, and loses an older point of whip anger T82, so no worries there (if it follows that plan).

- Muqa loses a point of whip anger T81, so it might be okay too?  I'd have to look at Muqa more closely to be sure.

- I don't think any of the other cities are threatening to grow into unhappiness any time soon.

If that's right, and we can afford to delay the ivory, we can do this at Nambui, with no changes needed this turn:

T79: The Worker on the Ivory joins the other Worker on the grassland cow, and the two of them complete the Pasture.  Nambui works the pastured grassland Cow.
T80: The Workers on the grassland Cow move 1E to the plains Cow and build a Road.
T81: The Workers on the plains Cow begin a Pasture.
T82: The Workers on the Cow complete the Pasture; Nambui works the new PLAINS Cow pasture.
T83: The Workers on the Cow move to the Ivory and resume the Camp.
T84: Nambui is now size 2, and works both Cows. ONE of the Workers on the Ivory completes the Camp; the other Worker is available for other duties such as moving to the gems (or the jungle W of Nambui).
T85: The other Worker is likewise available.
T86: Monument is complete at Nambui, which starts a Granary.
T89: Nambui is now size 3, and works Cow + Cow + Ivory.
T91: Nambui WHIPS its Granary (3 pop to 2) and works both Cows.
T92: Granary is complete at Nambui, which begins a Workboat.
T93: Nambui turns Avoid Growth ON to collect 5 more food in its granary.
T94: Workboat is complete at Nambui, which turns Avoid Growth OFF and starts a Lighthouse. The Workboat moves to the Crab.
T95: Nambui is now size 3 with 15 food in the bin; it works Cow + Cow + Ivory. The Workboat does a little more scouting (e.g. SE to the Fish and back W to see the last tile on the southern island a turn early) ending turn on or adjacent to the Crab.
T96: Nambui's borders expand to its second ring. It works Cow + Cow + Crab, and the Workboat nets the Crab.

On the rest:

Wow, that gold island....  We'd definitely need defenders to hold it, but it would be great to get!

I really like one-turning Workers, but especially if Muqa is at risk of growing into unhappiness soon, getting a barracks up in Chubei (and letting it hold onto the corn) definitely makes sense.

More later when I have a chance to look at the graphs and/or Muqa's situation more closely.  It's great that we have Dark Savant's graphs now!

TURN 79

Some good news and some potentially very bad news (not only for us, though). I`ll start with the bad news. Joey finished the Great Lighthouse! The event log didn`t tell where it was built but this has some implications for us. We can`t accept an open borders request by Greece as Joey would gain much more from it than us. Unfortunately, I don`t think all of the new players will deny his offer. Well, I have a feeling that PB 37 has a few better than average new players so I might be wrong.

As you can see, finally we got a Buddhism spread! It certainly could have spread to a worse city. 21 turns is a lot but hopefully we`ll get a couple of spreads to Kokejin and Borte. We could build a monastery in Chubei after the barracks is done if we don`t need more military right away.

The chariot right next to Borte boarded the galley on the western sea (yes, I turned it around). We lost a turn of scouting there, but nothing too bad.

The workers in Borte`s bfc joined on the grass river right north of Borte to complete a cottage. Maybe it`s not the most useful improvement but having a few cottages to grow onto is good in the long run. We could chop down one or both forests in Borte`s bfc. Should we do it now or wait until we have e.g. a market to build? Borte`s now working the shared mine instead of the oasis.

Graphs and demos: Joey weren`t doing well in the demos for a reason. The Great Lighthouse will certainly help him to recover. Dtay showed a big increase in gnp this turn.

On Nambui: I agree with delaying the camp for a few turns as the city badly needs to grow onto its strong tiles. At size 3 with a border pop it`ll already be a strong city, contributing a lot to our civ.

A screenshot of GJ's land should tell us where TGLH was built: Someplace that had a lot of forests when we traded maps but now has none. It only provides one extra trade route in coastal cities in RtR, but is still quite nice, obviously.

Great news on the religion spread! I'd be tempted to swap Muqa to the plains cottage (swapping to the mine when it completes next turn) and let Chubei work the plains cow (instead of the lake) to speed up its upcoming builds.
