Too bad the food is 2nd ring at SD’s capital alright At least once you capture Thessolonica you’ll have the fish that can be swapped between the cities.

Ya I researched myst because both of his cities need the culture.

Speaking of "both".

SD left me with both an opportunity and what felt like a trap. He had 1 fresh archer in a hill city and 4 warriors vs 6 chariots (basically my injured one was shock so evened out to almost full health odds vs warriors) and 1 warrior. I did regret sending my other warrior off. Lost the fight vs archer, but injured enough. Then I had the decision to make.

IF there was no archer being produced next turn I REALLY could use that worker as I have none atm. However, if there was an archer out next turn from chop overflow (I knew he had chopped 1 forest recently), he grew, dry whipped another archer, and then got lucky............... My chariots were pretty injured and while they had promos to heal I was greedy once and got punished so maybe incorrectly did not get greedy this time. Lost my chariot vs warrior fight, but redlined and my warrior came in to finish him off.

Talking with SD on discord after, I found out there was no archer coming, so greedy would have paid off this time. Such is war, get greedy and get punished, but time you wouldn't get punished you weren't greedy.

Future thoughts coming. Have a house to clean.

Drop of Nelsons Blood. Will rename one of SDs cities to. Probably gold one as that is battle I got Nelson in.

I've been meaning to report, but turn roll hasn't lined up nicely with my actual free time to report. First off new color! You can read it!

Met Nauf. Makes settling 1st ring fish sooner than later both important and somewhat scary.

There are some settling decisions over on former SD side, but next 3 cities will be around my capital. Copper gem city, followed by silver city, and then island city. All cities that will easily pay for themselves. I'm very much behind commerce wise and with the lack of workers for a long time my cottaging will be my usual horrendously behind. Next is prob the NE fish just to make sure to get.

Whipped a worker at capital into chop into gran. Messed up and forgot to change Great Big Sea to cow last turn; had beautiful in head micro for it; phah. Both SD cities got monuments. SDs capital I debated between slow building a worker or granary while waiting for border pop. Went with gran, but probably should have been worker.

Who noticed Mr Nelson fog busting? Ya I was trying to think of what to do with him and which city he should be settled in. Figured its probably SDs capital, but maybe horse city. I vaguely moved him that way while scout was transiting and realized I could do a maybe Realms first and use him for fog busting!

Missed that Xist took a city off of Greenline. That brings up some map questions. I wouldn't have thought Xist and Greenline would be paired, but maybe within continents is randomized.

Also, missed Hinduism being founded, but I had kind of resigned myself to not getting an early religion despite that I need border pops everywhere it seems like. Nauf has gold hooked already and I have extra costs and I imagine most people have a luxury metal of some kind so I'm probably really behind in tech (and yes I've been avoiding the demo screen).

No comments on Nelson fog busting? Any questions? What should I rename SDs capital to? I've thought of doing Kittyman because he sent me that link at one point.

I was going to ask about him because I saw it in the picture, and then you took away my need to ask by talking about it below the picture. Gotta work on your comment-bait game.

More seriously, it's an interesting choice and makes sense given how much fog-busting an empire of your size likely needs anyway. It's one of the earliest GGs I have seen in a minute.

Fair.

Ya its so early and as I don't even know when the next military unit produced will be seemed like the decision of where to settle could wait. Chariots were all healing at the time. I do want to farm 1 barb at some point as I have a shock chariot at 9/10, but that seems likely given the SW.

GG and fogbusting never had overlapping timings for me, so yes, this is nice but also not very shocking.
I tend to park great persons in cities "for later use" (probably a dumb idea), could also chill in the wilderness smile

Barbs appeared! In the north a warrior came from the few tiles of fog because I've been too cheap to actually put the chariot out there (I was paying 1gpt as was). My shock chariot south of the mountains did already pick up 10th exp when a barb warrior threatened to pillage my road there.

In the south a Nauf scout. Again, pre rushing SD Nauf I had pegged as most likely trade ally and with TBS culture peaking through SE that still seems likely. So ya didn't pop the scout and sent him fish for fish. Now will he want to trade with the person with 2 civs worth of land and will he still probably harass me with carracks? That is the fear, but he may just try to win his own dual. He is against TBS and if I was him that would make me worried.

Settler will be done next turn for copper / gem spot and then corn settler is next.

As mentioned SDs capital song. Its a bit silly for me, but as its  the only shanty he has ever pinged me, it seemed appropriate.

I hadn't planned on reporting this turn, but things....... Greenline is dead. Xist won that dual. Again, in a dual the LOGICAL course of action is to go win your own dual. Which begs the question why there is a spear worker pair from TBS heading my way.

So a lot depends on what TBS does this turn as that will reveal the destination. If we are at peace next turn he probably is just going for SE of the hill where he can steal away Naufs dry rice and get the crab and have a handy canal city. This is the option if he is interested in his own dual. If he kills the scout he is probably going for the hill spot......... to steal MY COPPER or he could just have invasion plans I guess but I find that unlikely due to distance, but it does put any city in that area in danger from. Now the next permutation is does he send peace or stay at war? After thinking about it I actually don't know if that matters. I have 3 options.

1) Settle on the copper. Even if there is a 2nd spear I can dry whip an axe and get it there in time. The two warriors can hold it until the axe gets there (I did move the warrior from my capital for now). It blocks the hill spot from him, but I hate this option. There just isn't any food but the crab for all that green over there and settling on copper negates all crab spots (although it can eventually use itself). It is the safest option though. It loses 3 grassalands, its own early food, but other than an axe dry whip not bad which I would also do in #2.
2) Settle where I had planned to and go war mode. Instead of overflowing into a settler for corn silver I produce a couple of chariots. I could do this in #1 as well, but with how quick I could get an axe there I think I would be greedy and overflow into settler. But back to this option. I wouldn't even have to whip the chariot in ViewFromHarbor, but I could. The danger is he has 2 more spears on the way. I could hold the city, but even monument first I might lose the culture control on the copper, which would make this option disastrous. This would be the danger in a peace treaty is I actually may not get control over my own copper. Its also awkward because with spears he can fork the forest tile with the road on it and the copper. The main attraction is hammer  and I get the better spot.
3) I ignore it for now. I go settle on SDs copper. It ruins the uber wheat commerce city spot, and weakens SDs capital. But I can move it the wheat city 2 south which solves what to do with the grasslands down there (although irrigating for a filler later isn't that hard of a solution). I also don't have to build any military unless I see a stack and get to do a fast 2 more settlers for corn and fish (although I should do workboat first for travel time).

I kind of took steps for all 3 of these this turn, which is probably incorrect, but my hope is I open up next turn we are still at peace. Option 3 requires archery just in case he is fully invading as it will take time to get the settler to SDs copper. Its unlikely, but I kind of want archers for the NE fish spot in this scenario anyways. I also went and hunted down the barb with my northern chariot, which if I was doing #2 I wouldn't have done. Nor would I have whipped the gran in Great Big Sea. I did move my western chariot out so it can get over if needed, but didn't move the general.

I do like writing these things out it helps me think and I probably should have done during the turn instead of after. I knew the 3 options during, but my opinion on them has changed. I was leaning #2 or #3 before, but now I'm leaning #1 or #3. Getting to keep expanding is a big draw to NOT doing #2. #1 has an additional advantage of TBS either taking Naufs dry rice or him sending somewhere else likely against Nauf. Assuming he just doesn't come along with an axe spear stack....... Although it would have to be ready already. Working the ivory I could get an axe out in 3 turns in addition to the dry whipped axe. I did drop to #3 in power, but rival average isn't THAT high. If he war peaces it does make #1 safer.

Anyways I'm kind of rambling. Lets see if TBS rolls the turn or not first. If he does it is probably the other spot and I worried over nothing.
