Apolyton Beyond the Sword Pitboss Team Democracy Game

Returning from the abyss, I signed up to be (yet another) casual player over there.

That should be no problem - we had at least two players in our CFC demogame team who didn't even own Civ 4 (only Civ 3...), but they still added to the discussion nicely when it came to overall strategy, diplomacy etc. thumbsup

Wow, you never know who's lurking around here! First Gyathaar pops up in response to a mention of his savegame editor, then Locutus pops up to help with an Apolyton forum user. thumbsup

smile Thanks for the invite; I'll follow along as a lurker, but I'm a bit too far out of the loop on BTS to really belong as a team member. Not my place to give advice on a game I haven't even got. 8)

This sounds like a fun idea.

Since we seem to have a shortage of turn players, I can sign up as one, assuming we can get at least one or two others, if everybody is ok with a complete newbie playing turns. How much responsibility does a turn-player's job involve? (I can commit to one or two evenings a week, but not much more than that.)

PS

Congratulations. smile (Assuming this means you are expecting a child.)

OK, I signed up as a turn player, but I don't want to play all of them so others sign up too!

I also signed up, so now we just need a leader.

(I saw that half of existing turn players have names starting with Z and decided that I just had to join the company. smile )

This looks intriguing... and I'm willing to join the fun. I really have no idea how this works, so I'll re-comb through this thread to get a clearer view...

For the purposes of this thread, TEAM LEADER is defined as someone who would like to set up a team, organize their teams private forum once it is opened, and promote active participation from their team for the duration of the game.

Please be aware that if there are too many TEAM LEADERS, and not enough TEAM MEMBERS (Turn Players and Casual Players), then we MAY have to merge teams to form fewer, but stronger teams.

If that sounds like the sort of thing you are interested in then please post below........

Seeing as this doesn't seem too taxing, I don't mind signing up as team leader, if you guys can put up with my nagging tongue

Hi,

It's essentially carrying out what the team had decided to do. Usually, the team discusses dot maps, what to build where, what to trade with other teams, how to name units etc., and the turn player has to actually do this in the game.

However, if discussion level is low, or some things are not discussed at all, the turn player has to improvise and decide on his own. smile

Depending on the format, we need to have one player playing the turn each round, i.e. if it gets decided to have one turn every 24 hours, we need to organize ourselves so that we someone available each 24h. How we do this, per regular schedule or more spontaneous, is up to our team...

Hi,

okay, so it looks like we'll be able to get enough players to form a team! Very nice. smile

From what I read on the Apolyton forums, we need a team email address and a team icon. If we have both, we get our own, private subforum at Apolyton. Anyone up to create an icon?

Oh, and how do we want to call ourselves? Simply "(Team) Realms Beyond"? Or "The Real Mrs. Beyond", as in the SGOTM games? (I loved that! lol )
