Honestly I could just roll a dice if you guys want. I'll go down the list of names, if I roll an even I stick them in Pool A, an odd in Pool B, and once one hits five, the rest go into the other group. That work? Quick and simple...

I'm fine with this method. I think I like it better than a map maker picking because it prevents any blame being put on a person. It's random!

wow this thread moved fast. i've gone through an insane couple of months but finally have - and will have, for several months - time to dedicate to a civ game. i see that earlier in the thread the suggestion was to keep the limit to 6 people/game - is that still the case and if so can i add my name to the list?

I would like to have at least some things decided by the players. For example, I would rather have no ivory, a difficulty no higher then emperor (and if toroidal maybe lower) and please no huts or events - that is too much luck for my taste.

edit: have seen that you have already opened the map maker thread scooter - maybe it would be better to first get a consensus at least of 6 players before somebody starts to create a map? like I said above, huts and events are not really my taste. sure if 6+ players say they want it, I will live with it, but right now it seems to be 3:1 for a completely random game with (maybe) all options turned on.

I'm on board with the consensus.... I'd vote for NTT.

Tbh I think huts and events are too risky to put on - they could give some unfair advantages to people really!

No Ivory is a good idea but negotiable, and aside from that i can't think of anything else I care enough about to argue about

Pretty flexible on this one.. 5-6 players can make most settings work nicely so I'll just go along with the majority preference and whatever the map maker(s) think appropriate. smile

i think it's easier to balance a map with an even number of players than an odd one so maybe 6 per game makes more sense than 5?

Alright guys, I went ahead and threw everyone into pools. I randomly picked a name off the list, flipped a coin (didn't have a dice), and I put heads in pool A, tails in pool B. When A filled up, I put the last two into pool B.

Pool A:

Jowy
Athlete4life10
scooter
Serdoa
dazedroyalty

Pool B:

The Reverend Doctor
Twinkletoes
WarriorKnight
Nakor
SleepingMoogle

Any objections to that?

I think that's good. If WarriorKnight decides he isn't able to play, that opens a spot up for Meatbalz.
