Depending on how many turns it is when we get ancient chants, we can decide then whether to squeeze in mysticism or not before education I guess.
[Spoilers] The Golem Factory: Beeri Bawl of the Luchuirp

Okay even though this turn is actually turn 4, i'm going to call it turn 3 because that is what the game says (because of including turn 0 as the first turn), so it won't be confusing.
Turn 3 Got some scouting done. The scout in the north found some sheep and another hut, which it will explore the next turn. Also I see that I found tundra already, which is weird since the jungle starts just below my (just culturally expanded) capital's borders. ![]() The warrior climbed up ontop of the hill to see what he could see before making the journey back to Ithralia. He finds a mana node just south! Good to see, though we won't be able to farm that tile now, but still. Also not shown in the picture is that I found another hut to the southeast when Ithralia's borders popped. I guess I'll let the scout take it, it's going to go clockwise in the unexplored area around my capital so unless someone else takes it first it'll get there eventually. ![]() Nothing else of note to report. I do need to name the warrior and scout though, it's annoying calling them "the warrior" and "the scout". Quote:I do need to name the warrior and scout though, it's annoying calling them "the warrior" and "the scout". We can definitely think up some nice naming scheme. As an initial punt, I'd say name the living units after famous sculptors. Name the golems after sculptures. For a slightly less classical take, name the living units after sci-fi authors famous for robots(Isaac Asimov, Phillip K. Dick, Douglas Adams, etc.), name the golems after robots. Are we going to apply a naming scheme to the cities as well? I kind of like the idea of naming the cities after famous AI's. GLADOS, Friend Computer, HAL 9000 and other luminaries. EDIT: Quote:The warrior climbed up ontop of the hill to see what he could see before making the journey back to Ithralia. He finds a mana node just south! Good to see, though we won't be able to farm that tile now, but still. We can farm it at least until researching one of the mana techs. That could be a good hundred turns of use, so don't count it out just yet. Quote:Also not shown in the picture is that I found another hut to the southeast when Ithralia's borders popped. I'd grab it now, unless the scout is going to have it in the next 15 turns. We'd be kicking ourselves if someone else stole it.
Was going to suggest a famous Discworld Golems naming scheme, but there are only five of them with names so that won't work. You could have then named the living units after famous Discworld Dwarfs, of which there are many.
Argh, I forgot to name the soldiers but will do so next turn.
Nothing of importance happened, scout got 30 gold from the hut up north and the warrior is making its way back to the capital
Wow, I just realized I forgot to name them again. But speaking of that, i've been thinking of a bit of a modification on the naming scheme. I mean there aren't really that many famous sculptures in the world. So i was thinking that we name the Gargoyles we create after sculptures, since they fit best for that naming scheme.
Because if we started to use sculptures right away, all the famous ones would be wasted on mud golems, lol. So i was thinking Mud Golems get names after different sort of soil/mud/etc types, like Clay, Shale, Silt, Loam, etc. Wood Golems named after different sorts of trees, like Oak, Spruce, Redwood, Ash, etc. Gargoyles after sculptures then and Iron Golems after different types of metals. Regular dwarves can still be the sculptors. Anyways Turn 5 didn't bring so much excitement. Perpentach and I increased in score, both of us from growing to size 2 (I presume that's what Perpentach's score increase is anyways, I know that was mine) which means only Perpentach and I worked a 3-food tile of the four civs that settled on turn 0. I am now working the FP and the Ivory tile. Today's pic is of our fair Ithralia after growing to size 2. ![]() And our scout didn't find anything fun this turn, he keeps on going east. Also should we name the cities themselves something as well? Famous art cities maybe? Quote:Because if we started to use sculptures right away, all the famous ones would be wasted on mud golems, lol. I'd consider naming them after art galleries/museums/sculpture parks. Or just leaving them as the default.
I'll probably keep with the default naming scheme for now.
Turn 6 played, nothing of interest happened. Scout, now named Donatello (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donatello) found a mana node in the north east but nothing else fun. The warrior, now named Michelangelo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michelangelo) will explore a bit on the hills just northeast of the capital since there's no danger around now anyways. Flauros grew to size 2, everyone else stayed on the same score. |
