Ah, you don't really need my time of playing since I'm dedlurking Ranamar's, but just so you know Ranamar's turn time is 0400-0700, mine is 0200-0900+ I've got him covered. His slot is right in the sweet spot of my free time (Lunch).
Do you mean you need Ichabod's time of playing? Ichabod is also the tiebreaker on speed. Though I agree with Ranamar for quick speed. You may think mistakes are magnified, but with the goal of having fun, interest needs to be continued and quick speed gets things going faster. I will say though, normal make warring much easier as your units don't get antiquated quite so fast, and its harder to build a new defensive army when you get attacked. Quick speed degrades the value of surprise and allows your enemy to reproduce even quicker and given the time it takes for your units to reach the field of battle while invading, the attacker in wars is at a distinct disadvantage in quick speed. But hey, I still think quick speed is the way to go.

What? I didn't say Ichabod?
Maybe that's how I spell Ichabod, you don't know
You can get a look at a t-bone by looking up the bulls ass but I'd rather take the butcher's word for it.

Some stuff worth considering:
Other game settings:
No permanent alliances
No vassal states
Default Starting Units
Rules
No nukes
The Heroic Epic and West Point can only be built once you have a qualifying unit that has always been yours, and if joined to a GG, the GG was one you spawned yourself
No corporations
Diplo and screenshot trading allowed after having met in-game
No coastal blockades
No city gifting
I have to run.

I have to say, the Quick speed argument is very convincing. Maybe we should indeed go with Quick speed

This all sounds perfect to me

Sorry about not posting the playing time. I can play from 15:00-16:00 GMT and 20:00-3:00GMT.
I can go with quick speed and the options that novice suggested. No events would be nice too.
:wink2: GES!

Nothing here that offends me... I have to admit, I don't think I've ever built a nuke in any version of Civ. (Okay, except perhaps maybe my edit about corporations, but I can live with that.)
Now, for the other important question...
Who's going to do the map?
EDIT: huh... didn't notice "no corporations" before
Is it too late to ask what's wrong with corporations?

Oi, yes Novice, I had more or less assumed the no perm alliances, no vassals settings. Most of the other suggestions are pretty good...it's a pity coastal blockades are so brokenly huge, but as they are, no blockades seems reasonable. City gifting...eh, if it's a border dispute I suppose pulling out for easy capture is sufficient. Nukes and corporations...I'm fine with banning them, although I don't think I've ever won a game due to either (by that point, you're generally either winning or losing for sure).
As for mapmaker...any volunteers? I think we'd prefer an non-gimick'd natural map, personally I'd be fine with a script-generated one with edits for fair starting positions and equal strat resource access.

Too late to tentatively sign up? Complete Civ IV newb here. Wouldn't mind the chance to try it out, though... possibly.

You could ded-lurk my thread, since we are going with 5 players only. I know it's not the same thing, but if there are no more players interested in another PBEM, it would be nice to work together with you once again.
