Ah, OK. So on the plus side, shootthemoon can't build boats either. I can build a boat up north, send it down via canal, and there's nothing he can do about it! (unless he makes his own canal)

I finally had to make a building. I ran out of health in Beijing so I whipped an aqueduct:

This was a fun turn. This archer from team 4 (now thoth) had been sitting on the hill there forever, really bugging me. And this turn I was finally able to kill it, with a mace at 88% odds, after a 1-turn road on the horses (yay Hagia sophia)
