Absolutely. A for the day for you.

History can be surprising!

T2 attempts to tame the jumbos
Becuase our culture has expanded to the countrysides:
Alright class, Geography time. Our scouts have found some land that may look familiar. Anyone able to place them?
Answer:
Those Mongolians were rather silly. Anyways, those Mongolians had it much better off with floodplains and whatnot. Anyways, just thought it was funny as I had brief Deja Vu as they are similar (Wheat, desert hill, rivery ocean to the north, east of the capital) yet very different. Anyways, our glorious capital:
Little-known fact: Captain Ahab was actually a Viking.

T3 spies some deer
Right here:
Both bodies of water there (excepting the lake) are ocean. I'll need to find out the length of them to see if I can build boats on them. Capital:
Canceled the elephant before completion so I can get over to the rice and start it the minute Agriculture is in.
Sometime soon I'll do a post on my plans. That's because I'm still pulling those plans together... But I'll think about what players are likely to target what wonders, what wonders I may want, what tech priorities are for me, etc.

T4-5 spies gold
Some nice land thataway:
Worker stuff is coming along as planned:
Press enter, Agri is in, worker starts farm next turn. Top cities:
The Agri folks hit size 2 a turn before me as expected - remember I'm first in turn order and I just jumped to size 2. Anyways, Demos:
Then Turn 5 was played early this evening:
Interesting - that looks a bit "island"-y, but it also looks attached. No 1-tile ivory spots here. Curious to see if we'll see any true islands this time - if so I'll definitely prioritize those again as the IC routes were a pretty significant boost last time around. Also, some sort of canal between these bodies of water will be a pretty big deal. Back home, a funny oddity from farming over the winery:
The game didn't think farming was a "recommended" decision as it didn't highlight it in blue. Obviously the engine just assumes a winery is only on wine, and you'd never want to farm over that. Anyways, turn ended and a warrior with a promo available was built in the capital. Still running max food and onto another warrior next.
Class Dismissed.

T6 finds fish
This stretch of land is looking pretty strong:
Capital is about the same as when I left it:
Exciting right?

Come back tomorrow. YOU WON'T BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENS.
More seriously, once Werewolf is over I'll spend more time outlining plans, which is really the only interesting thing this early in a game.

T7-8 DECLARES WAR
I met Rome:
He decided to be a bully and chase me which is, like, super not cool.
So I ran:
I can use this as an opportunity to scout the land weest of me. Like, take this random plantation for example. Hopefully I'll find something useful over to the west. End turn and pop horse:
That makes an already-appealing site even better. I love the spot 2S of the fish and will probably plant my first city there. Another nice option is the plains hill 1NW of the fish.

Totally believed it. And utterly unsurprised.
