Noob ffh game.

I think what he means is that he won't need mobility due to it being free on arcane units, and I suppose he could get away with it if he uses body1 to haste his escorting archers/axe men ... But I personally find it an unorthodox approach nevertheless. I find it can always be useful in a pinch, and if he wants the priest to help with invasion, he will want mob1 on them before he is anywhere near access to body mana IMHO.

Plus, mob1 cats are awesome if combined with assassins ^_^

Best part? Cats live even longer if u attack with ur summons first.

It counts as a straight 9(?) turn GA, with no holds barred.
After firing it the next GA will still cost the same number of GP.

Really? Wow... Does it do this in addition to stopping everyone else's production and research or instead of doing so? Either way, why? I apologize for repeatedly misunderstanding you, I just found this possibility to be outrageous.

Also, I forgot to mention in my post about Arcane that the Potency promotion also decreases the chance that an enemy will resist a spell like charm.
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

Because EitB reduced stasis length (because it was unfun in pbems and kept being banned), to compensate, and make when you fire it more of q a strategic choice, it gained a GA.
Revelry works the same, BTW, and lasts twice as long.

@Tasubke; he's arcane/charismatic, he shouldn't be going for either catapults (for collateral - summons/maelstorm instead) or assassins (why go up the recon line?).
That said hbr should still be picked up for the support troops/PoW.

Yea ... cats/assassins is not what I'd probably call 'necessary' per se ... but I'd probably pick them up after sorcery (or at least before Strength of Will).

But yes, HBR, Construction, Code of Laws ... almost always necessary techs tongue

I'd also go 2 S from start, and target the remains for second city.

Then decide how you are going to get the commerce going. Mine the gold? Cottages? Elder councils-specialist?
(I think I'd go agr-cal-craft-mining and live off the gold a while, but possible to rush to Edu and cottage two riverside grasslands. Hope no forest grows there meanwhile)

Perhaps you could post the save game from the start? Mabye someone could play an alternate approach shadow of your game. Might be instructive to see and compare different ways of tackling the map/civ. If I have the time I'll give the opening a go and show how a mediocre player could go about it.

If I do find the time I'll be careful not to reveal any info that would be a spoiler for your game.

Just noticed that both cows are freshwater. FARM EM! :D

anywho, 2 south of the starting location is indeed also doable. (albeit not a plains hill or riverside)

if that were to be the first city, then the plains hill near the Patrian Cows would be a logical second choice. I would still temporarily ignore Husbandry until after Philosophy, however, and to just farm over those cows as probably your 'first' farm improvement.
