You don't use him to spy, you don't use him for missions, you don't do whatever else with him. Well, you can delete him if you want, but lets assume that everyone has that little bit of common sense to realize it themselves. If we want, we can allow Scotland Yard as well, I agree with Bigger that this would be in the spirit of the rule.
This would be my interpretation as well. Also think Scotland Yard is fine.

Btw if our one direction for the map maker is "natural-looking non-mirrored map", that rules out Donut as well. You guys okay with that?
I hate donut anyways, it's a boring script without any variety.

Well if I got a great spy and was going to use it for a GA in 20 turns, I would scout with it in the meantime unless the rules prohibited that.

I'll stop meddling though since I'm not playing.
I have to run.

Novice you are right it was badly phrased. It was implied in the original rule but not stated out right. I'll use your wording in the final rules, thank you smile

Do we even have a mapmaker yet? If not, I'm not sure how I'd feel about hurting our chances even more of getting one by requesting a 'natural looking' and 'non-mirrored' map, especially if there isn't much else we need to do before seeing the map (we are seeing our starts before picking right?). At least consider the upside of the alternatives.

I haven't asked yet because we are still discussing the bans and what guidelines to give to the map maker.

Would it really make it tougher to find a map maker? I thought it'd take around the same amount of time to roll a few Big N Small maps (for example), choose the best one and balance it a bit, than it takes to roll a few Donut maps (for example), choose the best one and balance it a bit.

I was planning to do our picks blind with no map information, but that can be changed if the majority wants to know the script.

Disclaimer: I know nothing about making maps. And due to that I don't really have an answer to your question. Maybe I'm just used to a mapmaker volunteering shortly after the pregame thread starts? Nonetheless if we don't have one we still need one, although there are other things that need to be done before the game as well (such as picking), so disregard my question.

I see. If you mentioned it before I must have missed it. That's alright with me.

Tbh, Id rather see our start before picking leader + civ. Otherwise, might as well just do random leaders/civs for everyone and be done with it.

I didn't mention it before, WK. Kinda expected to get an answer to that map type question in the settings poll. If we had chosen a particular script we would know to base our picks on that smile

JesterFool, Has there been a game before where everyone saw their start before picking? How did it work out?
