game discussion!

Proved I could crush Jafar capital with one attack.
started an extreme game, randomly rolled my wizard. Oberic came in and defeated me before I had a farmers market. - no declaration of war just, swoop in sight, boom dead.
sometimes that's how the game goes. Officially my track record on extreme is far worse than impossible.

My rush stack of ultra elite and veteran slingers got creamed in '04! This is tremendous. How the heck do you win on impossible I wonder.

Well, I have uploaded an impossible game to YT today but will take days to subtitle the whole thing before I can make it public (and it shows the version 2 months ago).
It's pretty hard, takes a very strong strategy and some luck to win. Until you get more familiar with the new features and spells, you should not play the highest difficulty, it's in a different league than vanilla MoM, despite the AI getting about half as much advantage, it is that much smarter (and isn't hindered by bugs anymore...)

Agreed. But 4 life warlord is still obnoxious. Just played warlord 5 life 2 sorcery 2 nature specialist on extreme. Small 4 opponents max power poor dry. I was orcs.

I got 4 cities (stole a gnoll city, settled two otgers); I tried for a fifth city but I made a mistake and it got destroyed. I hold four nodes.

My hordes are invincible. In 1415 I have the highest spell power, the second strongest army, and only one Myrran opponent has more power production. My windwalker plus 8 hordes crush everything they look at (nodes with sky drakes, great drakes, hydras mixed with great drakes, great wyrms). I have many other stacks of 4-9 hordes that no one can defeat. My opponents don't have very Rares yet so no buffed very Rares to threaten them. (I don't have an amplifying tower or a sages guild in my capital because all I'm doing is pumping out hordes. My gnoll city has population 18 and is pure food. My other two cities really don't matter, and are just building slowly up.)

Early game would have been interesting to watch. Freya (8 life 4 chaos, ruthless, klackons) declared war on me (1405?) but couldn't mass anything dangerous before I had hordes going. Ariel (9 life, 3 nature, maniacal, barbarians) broke several towers and declared war on literally everyone by 1407 - and even now in 1415 she has the biggest army and controls the most territory. Tlaloc and Tauron (lawful and peaceful, both dwarves) allied very early on (and that alliance is how Ariel ended up at war with 5 people). one of them is the only one with more power production than me; I call them double T and pretend they're one opponent, so I don't recall their picks.

So I'm asking for suggestions. What kind of builds would you like to see in extReme?

Are you going to record and upload to YT?
I don't think I have ever seen anyone play Chaos+Death yet, and I don't think I did that much either.

no, i don't do anything on YT (at least I never have). I play my games rather sporadically, and in many sittings, so I'm not sure how coherent I could make it anyway.

I'll try Chaos + Death (my last pure Chaos game ended in fiasco, so, let's try again!)

Lost two more extreme chaos/death games. Ruthless nature conjurer just attack too fast (9 stack of summoned unit before I have my fourth building) when I'm attempting to play the long term. I'm trying to do this without dwarves and I can feel how sloppy my early game has become because of it.

arighty. got a game going (extreme chaos/death), doing well; could have gone around and banished all four wizards, but decided to try to win via globals.

this didn't work very well. eventually all of the ai got mad about meteor storm and eternal night. then they all started making small attacks everywhere. and i got to meet the dreaded 'chew up your mana a little bit at a time!' Over 6 turns or so, i burned through more than 22000 mana, without doing anything significant. And while I have the highest power production, its not a very large margin. I can't maintain this many wars, and am starting to lose territory. Unfortunately, that means losing nodes, which is where all my power comes from!

Unfortunately this reinforces my original strategies. Get super strong, avoid anything that annoys the enemy wizards, and then wipe out enemy wizards. Skip the war phase. Which makes things like very rare globals a hindrance, not a help.

I'm not sure how to make very rare globals effective (Or any hostile global) Any thoughts/suggestions?

If there was a long period of peace on high difficulty and AI wizards accumulated a lot of troops, this happens.
Eventually they'll all get used up attacking your cities, and the spending becomes more affordable, especially with Meteor Storm killing a lot of them on the way.
These spells work better if you are already at war and there are no big piles of unused AI units everywhere. They can also be nice if you use it against allies : by the time they break the alliance (if they ever do that) the damage will be already done and they'd have a much harder time to fight.
It also works well for Inquisitors, as you can focus on defense only and let the spells take care of making sure you stay ahead until Spell of Mastery, which is convenient if you can't gain cities by conquest.
They are also very efficient if the other wizards are already busy fighting each other, in which case you don't have to worry about that much attacks incoming.
Needless to say the spells absolutely dominate lower difficulty games as well.
