Random questions

Slingers don't have a Rock attack, they have a bullet attack. Same icon but different type. (very much how magical ranged also has the same icon for Chaos, Nature and Sorcery type ammo)

Are you sure? It's a bit confusing if that is the case.

But that isn't the issue as I gave the slingers focus magic and they had the same problem still (the attack value stayed the same as they lost the adamanium missile bonus, but gained orihalcon magical ranged bonus).
They just can't seem to damage anything at all in the fortress. 

He has Brax with 11 defence and also bless (so 16 altogether) and invulnerability. Also he has +2 to defend and my slingers have +1 to hit. So I would have thought a 72 strength magical attack would do some damage but it does none for some reason.

Aside from Magic Immunity, assuming your target didn't have it... you had an attack strength of 8 with +1 To Hit.
And you were hitting an enemy with 11 defense (Bless doesn't apply to sorcery magic ranged attacks) with +2 To defend and invulnerability. This is how much chance you have for doing the amounts of damage listed, per figure (so each attack does this roll 8 times for your 8 figures) :

   

You can see your probability of dealing more than zero damage is about 1% for each figure.

Edit...no, you had 9 attack, so it's slightly better, ~2% per figure, so about 6 attacks would let you do 1 point of damage to it.

Ah...I thought the total damage was combined for multi-units before applying it to the defender and not each attack applied separately. 
So slingers have almost no chance of damaging high defence units? 

Actually it was an attack strength of 9 but I guess that doesn't make much difference in that particular case.

Yes, high defense is the counter for high number of figures.
btw City Walls add 3 defense, or 1 if already destroyed on that tile.

Ah I hadn't realised that thanks. There are so many rules to learn.
Presumably once you're inside the walls the defence bonus disappears.

I've just noticed Ariel has spell lock on all her heroes but she has no sorcery books and only life. How did that happen?

Bug. The experimental AI overland spell selection is missing the check for knowing the spell for the "Spell Lock category". Will fix ASAP.

Latest game is interesting, four lots of casting of Divine Order and Good Moon means that Lionheart is reduced from 180 to 29. Great fun buffing everything.

Noticed a couple of very minor visual bugs, there are spaces missing in some text in a couple of places.

When a hero makes a level in the pop up box it says "+1Defense" instead of "+1 Defense"

When you use the surveyor over coal/iron it says "reduces normal unit cost by10%" instead of "reduces normal unit cost by 10%"

Yea, those are due to space limitations, these texts are internal, not coming from an LBX file. Can't add another character unless I move the whole string elsewhere which is not worth it, especially as space in the DS is extra valuable.
