[SPOILER] Asoka of the Vikings (Nakor & Gaspar)

Quote:Nothing personal, Ellimist, but this game is over, and I don't actually care enough to hit print screen on F9. The dogpile will only even be interesting if LP is a complete idiot, and nothing we've seen thus far has indicated that he is. He's researching late ren stuff at a tech a turn right now, and he still has the better part of a month of golden age left. If you want some eye candy graphs to show you how awesome Parkin is, ask him to post them.

I understand. Power graph showing the military build up is the main one I was after; obviously I won't draw Parkin's attention to that.

I think we have to find a way to do better then 20 galleon's, and 5-6 frigates... but we have some time to think about that. Growing and assembling an attack force now while getting a better tech rate is all we can do. Our inland cities should build Observatorys while our coastal ones build Galleon after Astronomy. Guess we need to whip as well. Do we have time to tech Theology and head into Theocracy before building more ships?

Took a look in-game, swapped 3 tiles and hit "end turn".
I think we should do the next 3 turns at 70% research to get Astronomy 1 turn faster.

Sorry for the attitude guys. Like I said, just frustrated. Anyway, new turn rolled over. I'll see if I can report like a grown-up.

Zerker done in Greenland, onto Oxford, due in 10T.

We pretty much breakeven @70% at this point, 615 bpt. Astronomy is due in 3T. Not much of a way to accelerate that, running 100% wouldn't get it and would burn through our surplus in less than 2T.

Let's take a look at likely milestones:

T173: Astronomy.
T176: Guilds.
T177: Construction.
T180: Engineering, Oxford complete.
T182: Gunpowder.
T187: Chemistry.

So Galleons on 170, Frigates on 187. Can we conceivably get Rifles ourselves on T200?

T189: Banking
T193: Replaceable Parts.
T199: Rifling.

Of course, these are probably slightly conservative estimates. More folks are moving the Rifling beeline than anything else, so we'll probably get a decent known tech discount. Unfortunately, if we really want to be the dominant seapower, we'd also need to go to Vassalage soon, which is going to make a significant dent in our research - Greenland is responsible for roughly a quarter of our beakers, that's only going to get more dramatic after Oxford. Regardless, if we're deciding we want to shoot our wad here, we might as well do that. The plus side, we can sell ships rather than loan them in this scenario, and then buy the Rifle upgrades ourselves.

Here's graphs for those who wanted them. GNP is hard to read at this point, Lord Parkin's inflated number makes the rest of look small. plako's made a nice surge, Locke has fallen off a bit since hitting Liberalism. I haven't done a beaker count, but I'd guess we're pretty solidly 3rd in beakers researched. rego is also finally pulling his economy up.

Production. You can see plako come back to the pack here as he's pushing research to get to Rifles.

Crop Yield. Nothing interesting here that we haven't known for a long time.

And here's the power graph. Nothing interesting here either, since you've all been already aware of the situation with Locke drafting. Nobody else is building up yet, since nobody has the techs they need yet.

Ended turn.

Why not go Theocracy over Vassalage?

Because we'd have to waste beakers on Theology.

More then we save by staying in Bureacracy?

Well, its a matter of degrees. We gain more than just beakers by staying in Bureaucracy, and gain more than just xp by going Vassalage. If we're building a 60 ship fleet, we'll probably end up saving nearly as much coin from Vassalage as we are gaining from Bureaucracy. But, I'm not necessarily opposed to researching Theology and going that route. In theory, we could use both, I suppose.

Anyway, new turn. Dialed up Berserkers where builds finished. Very little tile micro necessary. I also swapped to Caste-Pacifism and ran 4 merchants in Crossing. 13T to a GP. If you'd rather have the beakers in the interim, feel free to swap to scientists, I don't think we actually decided on trade mission or GA for this next GP. I suppose its entirely possible we could fire a GA with the next GP and then get a Merchant for a trade mission during the GA. I just worry if we go that route we'll never get enough GPP for a 2-man GA. Though hard to say that we'll actually ever see that benefit. I also hired an artist in No Good for a border pop, and one in Paradise to try and fight off Locke's culture there, where we just lost a forest.

Lots of folks researching Engineering. We should get pretty close to max discount when we go for it, which is nice. plako just fired a Golden Age. Appears LP is headed for Astronomy currently.

Left ending the turn for you.

Good plan, those artists!
I think we should tech Theo after Astro to get in Theocracy for our fleet buildup and stay in Bur a while longer.

Let's use the next GP for a GA, we need the extra hammers is gives for our buildup. 13t sounds like we should be in GA when starting on our frigates/galleons. We can get money from our allies selling Galleon's to keep up our tech rate and upgrades so we need the trade mission less then the extra hammers.

Swapped us to a WB in No Good to get the Whales connected after border pops. Then ended turn.

Just poked around a bit, nothing especially interesting.

If we want Theo for the build-up, we won't pop a GA. We need 12T for a GP in Pacifism. Thoughts?

We should also probably get some Missionaries to the southern cities. Also saw you queued a Settler in Beaverpass, wasn't sure where that was for but I left it.

Did the tiles, but feel free to do whatever and end turn.

Let's get Theo after the GP, cue ships and zerkers everywhere, build them 1t to completion and finish them once we are in Theo?

Will have time later today to look at the game. The settler was there for a city with a sign near Beaverpass, crappy filler or north of Ironic.
