RB Pitboss #1 SPOILER - Hatshepsut / India

Okay I moved everything on to the hill 1NE of RR.

That's 5 Knights, 8 elephants, 7 maces, and 7 cats.

Inside RR there are 5 elephants, 3 cats and 2 horse archers
On the tile NW of RR there are 3 more elephants and 2 cats
Inside SS there is 1 elephant and 3 HAs

Nothing on the tile 2W of RR, though if there's anything in ZZ top, it can make it inside RR when the turn flips (but not hit my stack unless it's a 2 mover)

As you may have seen already from his thread, from CivStats Exploit made 15 whips this turn (probably whipped every city). My suspicion woudl be heavy on muskets with associated cats.

My other suspicion (having not logged in yet) is that he ran his army back to ZZ Top, ceding RR and SS, but we shall see

I will have to check the save when I get it and consult with General sunrise to see what to do

Okay so exploit attacked me. He hit me with 5 cats, which all died. Then attacked with 5 Horse Archers. 3 died, 1 withdrew, and 1 killed Vox the Elephant (at 7.1% odds frown)

His defenses:
In the city of SS: 1 elephant,
1S of the city of SS: 1 wounded HA
In the city of RR: 8 healthy elephants, 1 wounded HA
2W of the city of RR: 1 elephant, 1 cat (unclear if they have moved this turn but I bet they have)

My units, all on the hill tile 1NE of RR:
5 knights: 9.2, 9.2, 8, 4.2, 3.5/10
7 elephants: 4.2, 2.8, 5.6, 4 @ 6.6/8
6 maces: 8, 6.6, 4 @ 7.3/8
7 cats: 5, 2 @ 3.5, 4 @ 4.3/5

A few of them have eligible promotions.

Seems like an odd choice by Exploit - he lost 5 (almost all) of his cats and 3 horse archers for 1 elephant and damaging the rest of my units. The only way it would seem to make sense is if he has a massive stack in the desert hill city that will reinforce RR next turn.

Total power is 603K for me and 469K for him (or whoever's 2nd place, I think it's probably still him). It will be interesting to see what he goes up to after all those whipped builds come in next turn

Replying to myself because hey it's my thread and I can do whatever I want, and how else do you think I got so many dang posts in here!

My medic 3 chariot is on the scene (I was very worried as I drove into work this morning that he wouldn't be able to make it on to the right tile, but he did)

He should allow units to gain 30HP in between turns.

That will completely heal 3 knights, 5 eles and all 6 maces. It will leave knights at 7.2 and 6.5/10 and eles at 6.6 and 5.2 / 8. That's independent of any promotions that may be applied - I know there's a few that can promote this turn and a few that got enough XP on defense that they can be promoted next turn

Have to talk it over with sunrise to see if that's better then just attacking now

Do you have any spies in the area? Would be nice to know where he plans to fight you

Woah a Dantski sighting!!!! lol

I have one spy heading that way that will get there within the next turn or two. My other spy was just caught this turn in Imhotep's lands.

Not having great spy luck in this game frown

Okay. With General Sunrise apparently being busy, I decided to just give it a whirl. It seemed like it was better to attack now (this turn), if I could get enough good odds.

First, Ingrid the roving scout (i.e worker) moved west, and spotted nothing in the fog. And ZZ Top is only guarded by a single shock mace (upgraded from a quechua I believe).

So, first I sent in the cats. First cat took the big dog (C3 elephant) down to 6.9/8, which was not much and he defended also against the 2nd cat, who also died but took him down to 4.6/8. 2 more cats died taking the C2 elephant down to 4.8/8.

Then we started the real fight

C2Ele @ 7.3/8 vs. C1 Ele @ 86.3%
C2 Mace vs. C1 Ele @ 87.7%
C2 Mace vs. C1Medic Ele @ 88.2%
C1Shock Mace vs. C3 ele 4.6/8 @ 94.6%
C2 ele 6.6/8 vs. c2 ele 4.8/8 @ 88.1%
C1 mace vs. C1 ele 5/8 @ 94.4%
C2 ele 6.6/8 vs. C1 5/8 @ 89.1%
C2 knight 9.2/10 vs. elephant 5/8 @ 94.6%
C1 ele vs. HA @ 99.9

9 for 9! Captured 15 gold and after some debate, decided to keep the city, which came with no buildings.

Then I cleaned up a sentry HA to the south with a C2 knight @ 97.3% and a C2 knight took out "Shithead" the wounded HA @ 99.9

So from before we were 603K to 469K in soldier count.

I dropped to 584K (-20K for 4 cats, +1K for the city)
He dropped to 424K. But actually, I think he's no longer 2nd. If he was at 469K, and lost 8 elephants and 3 horse archers (and 1 city), he should have dropped 83K, or be at 386K. Again, it will be interesting to see where he gets after these 15 whips.

I tried to divide things up between my current stack and the city. I have enough that he can't take the city. He may win a battle if he wants to attack with that C1Shock Mace, but he won't have odds with the elephant and actually, depending on how things go, I may have a shot to take ZZ Top next turn.

Okay then. Turn rolled over and since it had been 9 hours since I moved any of my units, I was within my rights to move again, per my understanding of the rules.

So C2Formation Elephant took on the C2 Elephant on the road, winning at 72.8%
C1 mace took out the cat @ 95.6%
Then an injured C2Formation knight lost to the C1 shock mace guarding ZZ Top @ 51.1%, only knocking him down to 6.8/8
But another injured C2 knight took him out at 48.5% and I razed the city.

After looking at things, I will make my stand at the new city of Evendale. It is on flatland, but there's lots of flatland approaching the city, and I figure that I'm much more likely to attack out at any defenders than hold up in the city itself.

I have a winning knight and mace injured and vulnerable to the 3 elephants of Exploit's that are hanging about. I did use 2 of my knights to cut the roads between ZZ and Evendale. I wanted to cut the road my mace was on, but I couldn't figure out how to do that and not leave another unit vulnerable.

In-game, I offered a cease fire to Exploit - I also wrote him a note in game saying that all I wanted was to be able to settle the places Yaz told me I could, and offering an exchange of units in exchange for the city of SS (which I can take whenever I want essentially). I doubt he'll take it but we'll see

In more domestic news,

Indian engineers have completed the Montgomery Canal. This great wonder of the world links East Fork lake (that Cincinnati is on and goes to the errr east) to Sharon Lake, which is the lake that Lockland is on (the SE watermass in the first pic). Coupled with the other canal cities out that I have founded (Lockland and Terrace Park) I now have a complete water path (though somewhat long) to all my empire.

I will try to get some time this weekend to give another state of the empire series.

Isn't it a bit early to make peace? Do you consider Exploit's initial whipping enough of a blow to his economy? What will your allies say if you make peace now?

Honestly I don't think that I can go much further, if at all. The only reason I was able to take 2 (3) cities is that he planted those without any military to back them up, trusting that my army was busy with shadyforce (which it was). He's very soon going to have more than enough to stop me from going anywhere.

So unless he does something silly with his army, we're not going anywhere. Now, it can be argued that I should stay at war with him to make all those whips go into units and not infrastructure and it does appear that is going to happen, at least for a little while longer
