RBP3 [SPOILERS] Team Nice Shot - Pacal of Carthage

t90:

Heads up: Zingara (Otto city) has 76 hammers in something -- looks to be either a forge, courthouse, or settler. My money is on forge, followed by settler.

Byz capital has 82 hammers in something.

Midas has 62 hammers.

Didn't bother doing small change anywhere else.

Well Bones and Fringe time turned into Bones time and fall-asleep-on-the-couch Fringe time.. so I'll do the India note today after peeking at more important in and out of game stuff...

Cities all look good. I'm moving around our MP units to get Boring's axe to LW as soon as possible. I've also moved the spear up toward LW, so that by T94, we will have a NC, axe, spear, and catapult there. What do you think of barracks-->walls at Lakewood, and chop out the worker? That will make Lakewood a very expensive city to take, and that's before we emergency whip if necessary. When war time comes, no folding over for us!nono

On a side note, I really appreciate the time you've put in for our team lately. I hope to be more present this week but don't know how things will look... it's a week of graveyards followed by inventory week. I'm so excited for May 6th for things to get back to normal!cry

Regarding India, what do you think of something simple, along these lines...

Quote:DJ Civ,

Carthage is sorry to hear that we cannot proceed with the tech trade at this time.

However, and more importantly, we are happy that you have seen how much work we have put into our diplomacy with your team. It is our hope that we can work together in the future, if diplomatic situations permit it.

Breaking character for a moment, I would like to take the time to say that both Shoot the Moon and I are sorry that these MP games have been consistently hard on you. We hope that these games continue at the RB community, and if we should meet you in a future game, both of us hope that we can build closer ties.

Until next time,

Mr. Nice Guy for Team Nice Shot

Considering what you've said about them, I hope it will be safe to include your name in the last paragraph. Do I say too much in the note? Too little?

I think I'll end turn and go read some PB2... smile

I think we should go more along the lines of stuff they have offered up for reasons it didn't work. Right now, it just feels kinda forced, and I think just using the reasons they have already offered up would probably be the easiest route to go.

First, I would say that Currency is a non-starter. I think they kinda expect that. Really, what I would get at I guess is this part from their email: "made it crystal clear just how far apart our perceptions are on this issue, and citing archived chats and e-mails might give us some satisfaction but it won't give us what we feel is justice. We're sure you have your own strong feelings on the topic as well, and we don't want to minimize that aspect of the situation, but unfortunately this is where we are"

I think we could just go along the lines of agreeing that our positions and perspectives simply seem to be to far apart on this issue for a deal to be reached. I'd then say something along the lines of that we don't feel that means the end of our diplo relations, it's just this issue it appears isn't workable. Then we could say something like, "although we weren't able to reach a deal, we feel no ill will towards either India as a civ or you guys out of the game whatsoever. As you've said, the positions our teams are exclude a deal, and that is what it is."

Or something like that.

So something closer to...

Quote:DJ Civ,

Unfortunately, Currency is not a tech that we can have on the table. So it is apparent that you are right when you say that the Construction trade cannot happen. It seems that our positions and perspectives are just too far apart to allow a deal to be reached.

We appreciate that you do want to have future diplomatic relations with our team. We don't feel as though this is the end of our diplomatic relations, it is just this issue that is not workable.

As you've said, the positions of our teams exclude a deal, and that simply is what it is. Although we weren't able to reach a deal, we feel no ill will towards either India as a civ or you guys out of the game whatsoever.

Respectfully,

Getting closer?

Yeah, it is certainly getting there. I think it would be there with one or two more sentences of diplo niceties (although I am not quite sure what those should comprise of).

Zingara has 82 hammers on t91. Looks to be a settler actually, as they don't have metal casting, so it can't be a forge, and just last turn or so they got CoL, so it isn't a courthouse yet. I'm not gonna lie, I'm kinda surprised they are still building settlers with a NAP running out.

The Byz capital finished its production, so it was something less than 82 hammers. My bet is on stables, barracks, or HA (obviously whipped/chopped so there is overflow).

Krill's city of Dunman...something has 85 hammers invested.

Midas completed production, so it wasn't a settler, but could have been a stables, barracks, or HA with a bit of overflow. My bet is HA, with stables a possibility.

Made some slight changes to the email to India and sent it.

By the way, I'm fine with taking a larger role these next couple of weeks. The one thing I will ask is just let me know your availability in general so I can know whether or not to wait for you in regards to diplo and micro stuff or more just do it (especially on the diplo, which is somewhat time sensitive).

Thanks for sending the note to India. Going in game to check things out, but I read e-mail and the CHASM chat first and I'm a little surprised about the T105-106 ETA on Machinery. I thought it was going to be earlier so that maces could be out sooner. Hopefully it will be a little faster than expected. I'm glad you and Cyneheard were discussing great scientists... I've been thinking about Centralia, and it will soon become a strong science city if we can lay off the whip. Add in an academy and B... and it can be quite formidable. Do we make the GS at Centralia, LW, or Boring?

Regarding real life... from Wednesday night on this week I will be working basically 8pm-8am so I would say this week falls into the "shoot the moon running diplomacy" category. Now to get in-game...

Ok, that sounds fine. Are you off tomorrow and Tuesday?

I think Boring is out: it still has a grassland copper mine and a marble quarry to grow into first.

Centralia could potentially do it, although as Cyneheard said, the opportunity cost there is much greater because of Beauro. I think therefor we should probably do it in LW. Conveniently, it is growing this turn, and we can just put that pop on a scientist. Obviously, growth will be stunted slightly as we get out that worker, but then it could grow towards the second scientist, while giving the workers time to put up cottages there.
