RBPB4 [SPOILERS] - De Gaulle of the Egyptians

I don't see any reason why you cannot provide all the tactical advice you want if that is your best strategy to win.

Whether you CAN and whether you should are different issues though. I express no opinion on the latter.

So what tactical advice do you plan on providing?

Okay, thanks for the input. smile

Not sure, I'd need to see a fuller screenshot of WK's forces and his situation to comment. However, my exploring Scout this turn found that the stack of Plako's next to WK's capital has grown humungous... looks like that city will fall next turn (if not this turn) regardless of what WK does. Perhaps my only advice to him for the time being would be to make sure he whips all around his empire to hold off Plako a little longer (or at least reduce his gains). Looks like hopes of a counterstrike are rapidly fading, although it may not be impossible...

Good news from Nakor - our T200 NAP proposal was accepted. He also seems somewhat open to the idea of sending Copper to WK, although he's understandably cautious. Don't know if anything will end up happening there, but at least there seems to be slightly more chance than with Locke.

Hey Lord Parkin,
Thanks for the message! Can Plako see if we send our spare copper to WK? If so, maybe we have to use an intermediate... But I like your plan. Our EP's are transfered to Luddite for now, so we hope to get tech visibility soon.

T200 for a NAP us good for us as well! Let's agree to that then.

Got a look at the tech screen and we're 4 techs behind Locke, not that much of an issue yet.

Got to go to work!

WarriorKnight has Workers on hand to reconnect his Copper this turn, so at least that solves that issue. Hopefully he'll keep it connected as long as possible. He also seems to have salvaged most of the stack that was in his capital, so perhaps he'll be able to mount something of a counterattack before Plako consumes his empire after all.

Christianity is slowly spreading around our lands - we've had 2 natural spreads and 1 missionary spread so far, with 2 more missionaries about to spread in the next couple of turns. I'm starting to queue up Christian Monasteries and Temples in cities where the religions is present to prepare for when the AP arrives. I'm also building Christian missionaries as fast as I can to spread the religion around the whole empire ASAP. (There's also a Confucian missionary I've queued up in Lynx to open up another monastery in the capital.)

Our 15th city was founded and named "Puma". Numbers 16, 17, 18 and 19 are on the way in the next half dozen or so turns.

Demographics are still pretty good. Soldiers are the main thing we need to improve on, although we still have long-term NAP's with all our neighbours so there isn't much threat there anyway.

Plako's now tied with us in score thanks to his capture of WK's capital.

Plako captured another of WK's cities last turn. He's down to 5 now... at the present rate he won't be around for much longer. Had a brief chat with Plako, and he thinks it'll take more than 10 turns... I'm not so sure. So much depends on how well (or not) WK uses that remaining stack of his.

SleepingMoogle declared war on Adlain two turns back - not sure if I mentioned that before. The war apparently only lasted a turn, as he razed a northern city of Adlain's and signed peace with him last turn. Guess that was just a border dispute.

Plako captured a third city of WarriorKnight's, so he's down to four now. Plako's army is now advancing on Corinth, and I think he'll have a firm upper hand there - mostly due to having Catapults while WK doesn't. Though the city has a Wall, so perhaps that'll slow him down a little.

In domestic news, with a bit of tile tweaking we just managed to eke out Civil Service this turn. So we've got a turn of anarchy while we revolt to Bureaucracy, and then it's time for some serious research. Debated whether to switch to Caste System at the same time, and eventually decided not to. Would have done so if I was Spiritual or was anticipating a Golden Age soon, but it simply isn't worth it when we're not in either of those situations.

Metal Casting is next, I think, since it'll be half a dozen turns before we can settle the jungle spots, and that's about how long it should take us to research MC+IW. At that point it'll be time for Forges everywhere. We should also have the AP quite soon due to Bureaucracy, so spamming Christian buildings as fast as possible is still top priority as well.

A couple of screenies from spies in foreign lands, for those interested. Nothing of interest in the main empire this turn due to Anarchy... will try to get some pics there next turn.

You can see Adlain's razed city below. Much as I feel sorry for him as the guy lagging behind the pack, I have to say it looks like it was a rather overambitious city placement. Perhaps there's something I'm not aware of, but from what Adlain said to me in chat, it doesn't seem like he had made any agreement to settle that location. Seems a bit of a silly move for that aggressive a plant... when we went for Leo we at least talked with Plako first.

Here's WarriorKnight's stack, along with a Great General he just got. Doesn't look too bad, but Plako's got more units than this on the way, and some of them are Catapults. It definitely doesn't look good.

Had an important chat with Luddite, resulting in a few key deals.

Quote:Ok, so to summarise, we've got:
- NAP to T210 (1500 AD)
- You won't settle any further cities towards me beyond the canal city
- I won't settle over the coast towards you, except perhaps south of the peaks on the unconnected land
I wasn't that keen on settling over the coast towards him anyway, though it would have been nice. Had to concede something to get what I wanted though, and the end result is pretty good. Luddite won't be settling any more cities at all towards us, and we still have the potential to settle south of those peaks over the coast to the west if we want.

Plus, of course, there's the NAP to T210 - a real bargain from my point of view, since he has that huge army I don't want coming my way too soon. Luckily it's in his interests as well, since he needs to settle and develop a whole bunch of new land and recover from his first war once it finishes.

All in all, quite a successful chat I think. smile
