Diplomacy Master Thread- Helping Your Opponents Beat Themselves

Take an NAP for 75 turns.

I agree with this, and IMO even knights would be premature unless we just want to show off. We've got all the land we need to expand peacefully, which is much cheaper than a war. Go ahead and NAP, then we can roll over them with cavalry or tanks.

It's very common to underestimate the tech rate in these games. We will most definitely not be fighting any team with maces and catapults; that's only 30-40 turns in the future. We'll have knights at the very least, and more likely drafted muskets + cuirassiers. Trying to attack a human player who can whip longbows with maces is a terrible idea - avoid at all costs.

ok, ok smile my point was if they ask for a NAP that isn't too long, there's no harm in accepting.
Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.

There was a lack of a true consensus, so I decided to send the German team message as originally proposed - including the known-tech bonus.

I'm also going to open a single Diplomacy Message Tracking thread, and this will be the discussion thread.

The floor is definitely open on how to approach WPC. I may have to go a bit chat-heavy a few times to keep them happy without committing to a NAP until tanks like they'll probably ask for. Anyways, I of course don't plan to bring up any talk of NAP to them, I'll let them be the ones to propose something and we can discuss from that.

Draft to CFC:

Quote:CFC,

Wanted to notify you that we have finally met WePlayCiv. Also, we did hear back from the German team finally. They said they are roughly to our north, and they have met Apolyton who is to their west. Our current guess on placement looks something like this:

simplified:
oo1ooo2ooo3o
4ooo5ooo6ooo
oo7ooo8ooo9o

1 - Germans
2 - WPC
3 - Apolyton
5 - RB
8 - CFC
9 - Spanish Apolyton

How does that match up with what you guys have seen? The exact positioning is really rough and not completely confirmed, but that's our best guess at the moment. How are things going with UCiv? Learn anything interesting from them?

Thanks!

It's been 5 days and I told Caledorn we'd get back to them once we heard from the German team, so here's this. Pretty straight-forward. Barring complaints I'll send it tomorrow. I'll let discussion go a little further and draft a hello to WPC tomorrow too.

Should we tell the Germans that our city by their quechua is due to expand borders at the end of turn, and that it might boost or cause troubles for their scout path? We can also tell them that 1SE is a safe tile, except that we will claim it at end of turn.

I think that we should definitely throw that into the communication to the German team.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

German team has already played their turn according to the APTMod website, so it's too late to really notify them. Good idea though.

They haven't ended turn, and I don't think they've moved their quechua this turn yet. I think the Aptmod simply shows if a team has logged during a turn, nothing else.

Oh that's weird, what's the point of the website then if it doesn't even tell you as much as Civstats? Or is that ended-turn info somewhere else?

I'll send them a real quick message letting them know.
