Funnyguy. I am having trouble finding functional dedlurkers. How low is the chance for finding a replacement?

What would you be looking for in a replacement? Would you settle for someone to keep the game afloat without upsetting game balance, or would you expect someone who's ready to go all in and give it his very best? Also, how spoiled can the replacement be?

Hi Catwalk, thanks for expressing interest! Speaking for me personally, whatever level you want to put into this game would be acceptable, and I don't mind any amount of spoiler knowledge. If you want the spot, I say let's get you started asap

Well, I just checked Asterix's latest visit.
So not only did he check in at 11:37 (as my screenshot showed earlier) but he also checked in after Caledorn made his last post (at 12:54) in this thread saying we would get a replacement player if he didn't respond. ![rolleye rolleye](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/rolleye.gif) Why do I have a bad feeling that he'll show up 23 hours after Caledorn's post?
My time zone is GMT -5 but it seems to be a one hour difference because the forum isn't taking daylight savings into account (that's my guess). Either way, you can tell his logins from your time zone.

With Asterix checking in to the site here, but not taking the time to even write something in the Tech Thread, I am going to ask Plako if he can do this unless we hear something from Asterix within the next 24 hours. Then we look for a replacement.
Okay, sounds good.

Have you tried to recruit ded-lurkers in your thread or in the General Civ Forums (there are new players wanting to play a game right now so I can't see why they wouldn't follow another game in progress)? You might also considering asking people if the style of your updates is "lurker-friendly" (apparently, EggHeads' updates are not, which I am trying to change ![lol lol](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/lol.gif) ).

This might be some sort of translation issue into English, but what is "cynicguy"?

The player would have to be (edit: this is an IDEAL circumstance, but by no means required, of course ![wink wink](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/wink2.gif) )
- Reasonably skilled, preferably with multiplayer experience but at minimum a good working knowledge of the game (should know the mechanics of beating Monarch on Single Player easily)
- Must obey all current deals Asterix has (seems like the fairest thing for me)
- Needs to realize that this is a full diplomacy game, so communication is important.
- Playing to win.

I can't be the only one who's worried by the "any amount of spoiler knowledge" part. I would prefer the replacement have no spoiler knowledge.

I would like to know the amount of knowledge known about the different players

I believe plako is quoting the well known ancient greek philosopher Selena Gomez. As a contemporary scholiast writes, she was called a "cynic" (from the greek κύων or dog) because: "of the indifference of [her] way of life, for [she] makes a cult of indifference and, like a dog, eats and makes love in public, goes barefoot, and sleeps in tubs and at crossroads. The second reason is that the dog is a shameless animal, and [she] makes a cult of shamelessness."
Here is her special message for Arki!

Plako is calling Arkipeller cynical, in response to Arki calling Plako "funnyguy"

Call me cynical also, but for me, anyone who can maintain a better balance than converting Asterix to ai, is acceptable. Maybe I'm wrong, but finding someone who meets all the criteria on your list seems like a tall order. Besides, I view this game as being more about learning and having fun, rather than playing a super-competitive game.

Yeah, I guess I shouldn't be too strict about the whole player criteria; this is an "ideal" scenario.
Also, Satan?

I am not concerned with being spoiled. As long as the person who takes over uses his gentleman's honour that any spoiler information he has is not abused, then I am good with that word being given. Of course getting a nonspoiled player would be excellent, but this game needs to continue soon, or the interest will most likely die. So if a spoiled player is willing to take over, that would be great.
As the Americans learned so painfully in Earth's final century, free flow of information is the only safeguard against tyranny. The once-chained people whose leaders at last lose their grip on information flow will soon burst with freedom and vitality, but the free nation gradually constricting its grip on public discourse has begun its rapid slide into despotism. Beware of he who would deny you access to information, for in his heart he dreams himself your master. - Commissioner Pravin Lal, "U.N. Declaration of Rights"
